This picture is on news websites all over the place along with a story about a refugee hiding in a car engine bay trying to get across a border.

The dimensions just don't look quite right to me.  Or is it really a very small man and/or a big car?

Here's another pic from the same article, and allows a better view of the car.  Does resemble an 80s Merc.

Could be legit. Might be a big car.

I remember seeing something about people being found in the back of cars on the us border. They were squeezed in behind the rear bumper somewhere.

My vote is it's legit.  Possibly new smart engine management technology from Ford...on board mechanic to try and prevent breakdowns.

Didn't you see latest Mad Max? Every car has secret way to engine bay where you can blow some petrol to go faster.

The article I read says he was suffering from exposure to petrol fumes when that's a MB W201 190E - with a diesel engine.
Where his head is where the battery normally sits in a compartment sealed from the engine bay, that's been cut away on the side, and the firewall has been cut away so he's tucked partly under the dashboard.
In other words, it's not a person hidden in a normal car engine bay, but it had been modified so that a person could be hidden.
Not photoshopped IMO.

Agreed.  The whole situation is tragic and I can't even start to imagine the poor quality of these peoples' lives that drives them to the drastic measures they're taking to try and make a better life for themselves.
(After watching yet another news article on it yesterday I actually made  commitment to myself to whinge less about little things like getting stuck in traffic for 30 seconds or the slow response of the intranet at work.)

My first post really is just about being puzzled over the man/car size ratio.

People can be small, I remember the GP telling us to throw out the growth charts for our baby. 1st kid under the smallest line, demanded all kinds of hormonal testing ... until GP got fed up and said this chart is not for you! When the 2nd and 3rd kid did exactly the same we then believed him!
