Hi,

I'm missing data for a few channels in WMC (1-4, 6,8,9 and 18 (not that I care about the Shopping Channel)). Not sure why data not being 'received' - those channels have a record # listed next to them in the log file?

Can anybody help?  I'm new to using EPG Collector (4.1) to transfer EPG data direct into WMC so could be missing something pretty obvious... Have been using prevous versions of EPG Collector with third party software importing guide data into WMC with seldom any issues.

Links below are to the EPG Collector log file and the respective xml file.

Thanks guys.

Set the option on the Output tab labelled 'Create data for channels with he same name......'.

Some users have doubts that automatically mapping the EPG data to channels works. If you still have problems after setting the option above untick the auto map option and map the channels manually in WMC.

Super stuff, that seems to have done the trick.  Thanks SJB. Maori Channel did have all the programmes listed as "." but after going into the WMC edit listing settings the guide returned....no idea why.

Not sure who wrote the latest EPG Collector 4.1, but the installed ini file for NZ is the old one (pre 2012). The option tab info in the readme file should include some text on the above option too.  Also I found that the software didn't run with any errors until I renamed the geekzone folders in programme files and programme data (if your looking to upgrade to 4.1) to get a true clean install (the folders are created on install and programme data folder when you run the software for first time).  Renaming a good idea if you want the option to use the old ini file for example.

Great to only need to use the one file to imprt the guide data though.  WAF back in positive territory.

Cheers.

Hmm, spoke too soon.

Went to record a programme using remote, it didn't work.  Tried to do it using mouse, it crashed media centre and on restart guide data had been nuked.

Unchecked 'Automatically map EPG data to Channels', saved parameters and seems to have worked (i.e I can now record).  Fingers crossed no more problems.

EPG Collector can't cause WMC to fail. When MC crashed it recovered your database.

Not sure what ini file you are talking about. Tuning files look fine. Also don't understand your comments about renaming directories.

Both those options seem to have descriptions in the 4.1 readme.

Hi, I don't know what caused the issue, but was just explaining what happened so that it may assist other readers of the post - if that ever occurred to someone else, and perhaps assisted the developers of the software (which of course may well be yourself I guess) - it's a great product, well done.

I ran epg collector after setting the option on the Output tab labelled 'Create data for channels with he same name......'. Opened WMC and all the missing channels were present.  Then I tried to record a tv program and WMC crashed.  When I opened WMC up again all the guide data was gone.  After following your second option and running EPG Collector the guide data returned to WMC and I was able to record programs again.  I could go back to the original settings on option tab to see if it occurred again if you wish - but I'd prefer to leave as is seeing it's working well.

Yep talking about tuning file EPG Collector.ini.  On a fresh install of 4.1 and unzipped updates the ini file had the old frequencies - the log file just said that it couldn't find tuner which made me think that it couldn't find my hauppage hardware, but after changing the ini file it worked fine.  If the ini file is the correct one when you install the software then perhaps it was something I was doing wrong.  In any case I manually changed the ini file to reflect the correct frequencies and the dual tuner was found (as per log file).

I was following 5.2 'Importing to WMC' which lists the options for importing.  Yep the respective options are in the appendix, but thought it might have been useful to either have those options in that spot or maybe reference them if that option sometimes does not work.

I uninstalled version 3.x EPG Collector and Geekzone folders were not deleted from C:\program data.  After installing 4.1 when I ran EPG Centre the log file still reflected previous use of the software.  I think the C:\program files Geekzone folder was also still there also. Instead of deleting the folders I renamed them and reinstalled 4.1 which then created the Geekzone folder and subfolders etc. When running EPG 4.1 for first time new program data 'Geekzone' folder was created.  When I ran EPG Centre the log file had no historical logs.

Cheers.

Thanks for the info.

Leave your setup as it is. The problem probably wouldn't occur if you went back to the old settings anyway.

I'm still confused about the ini file. You are using the Wellington frequencies and there is no preset task for Wellington. The one provided uses the Auckland Infill frequencies so if you select the preset task (New Zealand - Terrestrial Freeview) you have to change it for Wellington.

As far as I can see the Auckland tuning file and sample task are correct (for Auckland users of course).

It may be that a de-install of old versions is needed before installing 4.1 if you are a long way behind. Early versions used to put the ini/log files in the install directory if I remember correctly but that was changed many months ago. I'll look at putting a comment to that effect in the release notes.

I'd prefer to leave the ReadMe as it is. Duplicated information or even references can easily get out of date and would then be more confusing. I've thought about converting it to a PDF which would help a lot.
