My take now:

- bring it down with a page saying we will be back
- send a release apologising
- fire the current team
- get some new business requirements, tech specifications done
- develop locally
- unit test, system test, integration test, release test, regresion test
- test again
- come back

Put the lost money as "education".

As I said, I can carry the whip. It will cost them again though.

Not wrong there...

Wonder if I should wonder down to their offices this afternoon and help out?

The coders will be that busy,  I guess I could make coffee, refill coke glasses and dish out the pizza?

crackrdbycracku: Looks like this is going from bad to ridiculous:?

http://www.stuff.co.nz/business/industries/7756544/Wheedle-site-technology-fails-again?

Although if it was running perfectly, it wouldn't still be making the news. Maybe this is a way to get more free publicity for it :)

I think they need to issue and apology on their website and facebook page. Currently the facebook page says they are 'ironing out some kinks'. That has to be a tui billboard.

Matt I really doubt that this is for publicity now.  See the link I posted above.  People are now bringing into question the security of any other project these people ever worked on as well.

As for Facebook - when I checked in a few hours ago I read one poster being called a fool by the Wheedle social media person.

I suggest if you're wanting some server space, we know a company with some space they're going to want to be sub-leasing shortly.

Agree, they need to call in the A-Team to clean up here.

Working with developers in India can work, but it does add a huge amount of risk, especially when you need to be responsive. IMO, they need to bring the dev back locally to get the base code right first, and maybe look at outsourcing some future work to India if they must.

I assume they are probably working with an agile shop - which would be bloody hard to do half way across the world.

I think they need to contract in someone with significant online experience running a large NZ tech website (Mauricio), as well as someone with solid project management experience in infrastructure as well as agile and waterfall software development, and direct experience working for the only successful player in the market ;)

It was tongue and cheek. But they do say all publicity is good publicity, especially when it is free and from your competitors parent company. For them to be following and reporting on , I think they must be taking it as a serious contender to trademe in the future

Thanks for that, I think that could constitute a master class as to how not to use social media to promote your brand. So funny, so unintentional.

Are there any parts of this operation displaying competence?

@mattwnz

Personally, I think this is going to make things a lot harder if they ever think of re-launching.

Think of it this way: Is your first thought going to be good or bad when you hear the words 'the people who did Wheedle'?

The QuickFlix launch could be been a lot better but lack of complete disaster means I regularly check in to see how the content is coming. If they had been this bad I would have written them off.

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

Anyone got a screenshot of this fool calling by them?

I did, but it's still in the recent comments section.  The SMCSR even came back to have another bash later on, it's just gold.

As far as I can see, there has only been a total of 3 replies/comments by WheedleNZ on their facebook page.

This is the only one that I can see that comes close to "being called a fool" that was being referred to by Don.
