Looks like they still havn't got a clue: "161 listings"

Ugh. Get the listings BEFORE YOU LAUNCH, do whatever it takes to get businesses and individuals to FILL YOUR SITE with listings BEFORE you ask people to come to it, see there is nothing for sale, and never return.

Idiots.

There's a competition running with weekly prizes (a smarpthone of choice, Apple iPhone 5 or Samsung Galaxy SIII). The copy says

"This smartphone promotion runs from (launch date) to midnight 12/05/2013."

So either they didn't know exactly the launch date when writing that or the site was soft launched.

Love all those listings with photos taken in 2004...

Good stuff though: no more passwords in plain text stored in cookies, HTTP-only cookies being used, a more professional looking website than all the other newcomers (including that other one who berated Trade Me in their About Us page).

Good security measure: accounts created in version 1 were deleted and have to be created again. Seeing the previous version was full of security holes it's good that they are not reusing the same accounts.

I hope Wheedle does a lot better now than their first attempt.

Ok, I said a couple of good things about Wheedle, but then I read this update on NBR:

"I would like to point out that our website security was never threatened or hacked and all member login and password information was fully encrypted and securely stored, we have since deleted all member information. Nevertheless, for peace of mind we have again contracted an independent internet security specialist to thoroughly audit our application and system infrastructure before going online"

So the co-owner seems to now realise that the old version stored password in plain text in cookies and don't see how this conflicts with "fully encrypted and securely stored".

As I said before, good luck. I hope this time they have a better chance at establishing themselves in the market. Sella has just left the house, perhaps creating some space for Wheedle.

Time will tell.

I gave up. Their registration form flat out doesn't work and their password complexity requirements make me think they're storing them on an AS/400 or something.

Must be 8 characters, have at least one uppercase letter, one lowercase letter, and one number, and must not contain a single special character. Nope, not even a space.

The registration form clears the selection for whether you want a personal or shop account on page load, then when the validation runs at the end it whines that you didn't select an account type and won't create the account.

Wheedle continues to fail.

I think they're friggin retards.

I had no problems setting up an account and was duly sent an "activation code" via email. I tried to use this a few time and kept being told in was an invalid code. I had the site resend an activation code. Same problem but now the site is also asking for a captcha code to be entered - which it keeps telling me I'm entering wrong.

Look in their online help (I'm using Chrome) and it tells me I need to have the cookie option "allow data to be sent" checked - well it's actually "Allow data to be set" and it is checked. Pretty bad fail to be having on relaunch.

EDIT: yes, I am entering all activation code characters EXACTLY as received in the emails.

EDIT2: A new (3rd) activation code worked with IE10, maybe the site just doesn't like Chrome?

They need to String Shot trademe and slow it's relentless advance

On a more serious note, their authentication key sent upon registration cannot be copy/pasted and needed to be typed out; that plus the password requirements made the registration process overly tedious

I had no problems using copy/paste to get the authentication code from the email to the form.

I am using Chrome.

I'd like to see a longer password field (to allow for passphrases instead and obviously accept special characters.

Worked fine for me. Are you blocking scripts perhaps?

I copy/pasted it using Chrome, and had no issues with registration. Not sure whether I'll pay to stay though...
Was going to try Wheedle01 as password, but didn't...

Someone is trying to sell Wheedle on Trademe. I wonder how long this will last?

I am happy to give them the benefit of the doubt, the new site looks 100x better than it did.

If I type their company name into google, their website listing doesn't appear at all, only stories about the problems. Going to be hard to find by many if not listed in google.

QUite a few annoying things about their site. If you click on help, it opens ion a new window, then clicking on each of those lists also opens in a new window.
Also it says no success fees on their homepage, just a listing fee. But you only pay a $1 fee if the items sells for over $20, isn't that a success fee? It may not be a  percentage success fee, but it is still a success fee.

Curious, I tried Chrome/Thunderbird-Chrome, and Firefox-Firefox/Chrome. Guess it must have been a PC based error. Ah well :)
