Just wondering if and when Skinny is planning on matching the new 1GB limit 2 Degrees now offers with its $19 pre-paid plan? https://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobile/prepay/

I find the 500MB a bit too low now, and miss the additional data Skinny was handing out at the beginning of the year!

@LivingSkinny or any other Skinny rep - are you able to advise on this?

Thanks.

Have to admit, I am tempted to port SWMBO's phone to 2Degrees for this deal - she is using most of her data every month, and if we go away (ie outside of WiFi), she powers through it (don't ask me how - Facebook videos I suspect). Makes the $3 saving per month for being on Skinny not worth it if I have to top up her phone with more data.

Yeah, I'd be tempted to move back to 2Degrees, but for the poor 2Degrees reception at work and in other places I want/need data. But I'd also happily pay a little more to Skinny for an on-going increase in data, rather than fork out the significant sums for additional one-off data that can't even be carried over.

It's not permanent, it ends on 4/09/2016, and you have to keep your combo active otherwise you lose it..

I do hope others follow though, and someone has to make the step to make it permanent eventually

One thing though, the telcos never answer questions like this, although would be nice if they did :)

However it is just a question of when not if.

I've noticed the plan upgrades in both mobile and fixed line services have dropped considerably in frequency.

The next big revolution in mobile would be unlimited data. Couldn't really see that happening for many years though.

Great news. Thanks for the relatively quick matching of this offer, @LivingSkinny - though bad timing for me this month as my plan only renewed 2-3 days ago!

but does that mean the 1GB drops down to 500MB after 4th September or does it mean if you get this combo after the 4th it will only be 500MB?  I believe that is what 2degrees is doing.

The devil's in the detail!

Skinny reports it's only a temporary increase until 4 September - that's very disappointing, given 2 Degrees have stated "Customers who get the 1GB during the promotion will continue getting 1GB after 4th September if they keep the Combo active. :)".

@LivingSkinny or @SkinnyDeviceM - are there any plans for Skinny to provide a similar on-going benefit to its customers?

It's a bit rubbish compared to 2degrees - 1GB for a few months vs 1GB for as long as you renew your $19 combo.

(edit -- er, which others have said too.  Marketing vs actual value?)

Great! I hope they do end up letting people who got it keep it as long as their combo renews.

Shame mine renewed a couple of days ago haha

More than a bit rubbish I think. Looking at my desk calendar tells me that on a 30 day combo renewal, it can only happen twice between 10 July and 4 September (the promotion period). And if your renewal date was 7, 8 or 9 July, it will only happen once.
