Conspiracy Theory time...

So I've been looking at Skinny wireless broadband as a backup internet connection for a few months now. It has always been available in my area/street/address - area is Upper Hutt.

I went to sign up coincidentally just before the Rugby World Cup (not what Im using it for BTW) and now my address shows up as unavailable. Not just mine but many addresses around my area, other suburbs etc.

My area is well serviced by cable, fibre, vdsl and there are 3 Spark towers within a few kms of my house so I don't think there was a sudden surge in people signing up for Skinny Broadband (remember my area has fibre, cable and VDSL).

So is this just bad luck or has Spark/Skinny possibly stopped new signups during the RWC to ensure there is enough bandwidth?

Or am I just crazy?

Lots of areas now can't get new connections due to the number of devices on the network.

Yup, we have always made sure that onboarding new customers wont affect the existing users.

As always the Awesome network team here are always working on upgrades, be that further upgrades to the existing tower, a new site etc.

Personally i would be really peeved if i jumped on a flash wireless connection, was getting decent speeds then i went and said to all the locals hey get this!

to find it slows to basically unable to stream content reliably...

This loops back into a backend team that looks after onboarding folk that are waiting
