Hey, thanks for all the positive feedback everyone!

jonherries: It’s not made out of MDF?

Looks great - how did you join the lengths? Dowels or biscuits?

Jon

Yeah, the handle comes back to haunt me every now and then!

Lengths are all tongue and groove. Cut the tongues with a dado stack on the table saw (which was fairly easy). Did some of the grooves the same way - which wasn't. I need a higher fence. Did a fair few with a router, which then got easier with a Samurai Woodworker router base about halfway through.

Bung: The neighbour's cats would soon discover the route out the window and over the fence.

It's a bit hard to see in the pic, but there's black netting covering the top. No cat will be escaping from this any time soon.

A few more pics.

This angle shows the netting at the top of the enclosure:

This is Tilly enjoying her new outdoor area. We made a sandpit for the cats to use as a toilet, and also put down bark:

Another cat enclosure on the property. I didn't build this one, but I installed all the pieces of driftwood for the cats to play on:

We're going to collect more drift wood to make some more paths for the cats to enjoy. This rescue group has more than 40 cats at the house!

That's why you need this specially-made high-security cat enclosure:

None of this woosy cat-flap at ground level stuff, they'll need to be able to operate power tools to get in and out of this one.

Our doofus can't even figure out a cat flap, sigh.

I didn't notice the overhead netting on 1st viewing. I put about 1m high net ex dead trampoline along our fence to try and stop neighbour's cats but they bypassed it by climbing a cabbage tree trunk.

How about a hammock just under the eve's. When we used to board our cats they had several hammocks in the common area and the cats loved them.

As far as keeping cats in or out of your property how about "cat deterrent fence rollers", attractive and functional.😾

Then of course there are these types of enclosures for cats. 😻 😹

Good idea! I'll suggest that to the owners. I'd have to think of what to make it out of.

Or, more generally, several flat areas relatively high up where they can stretch out and hang their paws over the edges?

Also, which way is that facing? It looks like there's potentially zero shade there if the front door ever gets closed and they can't get out of the enclosed area.

Mate's wife wants some star pickets put up for her garden. Mate was going to buy a thumper, told him to hold off until tomorrow.

Couple of minutes ferreting in the workshop scrap metal bin after work and an hour or so to throw it together, job done.

Nice! Details on construction? "I hand-milled it from a 2 ton block of raw steel I had lying around"?

Haha good point!
The main tube is from a vehicle A-frame that was bent, so cut a bit of straight section from that - approx 60mmID and 8mm wall thickness. Top is a bit of 10mm mild plate left over from one of the fitters practicing for his tickets - nuked together with the mig wound up to 11 so it won't come to bits with all the thumping!

Handles are just some mitred 25 x 3 SHS, all with a coat of red etch primer. Will throw a top coat at it tomorrow, but it'll really only look good until it's thrown on the back of the ute.

That's some serious construction! I thought the coating looked like late-war German tank bodies where they shipped them coated in primer because of the lack of proper paint.
