I'm looking at getting these for the laundry/walking area in our garage.

You can never have enough Volvos!

Why? if it's going to have a car and/or tools and garden things - then don't.
This place had carpet in garage when we came, I cut it up and  left one strip while we still had the ute that leaked oil like a sieve but then ditched the strip too.

It was nasty, smelly, dirty and collected all the dust and leaves.

Vacuum a garage? No.

Dad works for carpet court and got the heavy duty nylon garage carpet put down. No smells even when wet, no problems thus far. True his Feroza does not leak though and he does not weld on it. It has been through a lot of vehicle maintenance though. Its been in there for about 4 years and still looks like the day it was laid. I don't think it was super expensive, but it is still a solution that needs a layer to come in and fit it professionally unlike the cheap tiles. But thus far it seems to have been a case of do it right, do it once.

Do you need to carpet the entire garage? Why not carpet the area around the laundry or edges where the vehicle will not be driven over?
