I live in a fairly small apartment so space is at a premium. I would like to affix to one of the doors in the laundry a slim cabinet with doors that I can hang display keep everday tools (screwdriver set hammer etc.)
Has anyone seen one pre made ? I imagine it would be about 700 x 1000 and about 100 deep

My first impression is that this would bother you with it banging on the door when it is opened and closed.  Command Strips (I'm a fan of these) could resolve that.

Consider the following instead which can be easily put away and doesn't have the crappy plastic 'hinges' that eventually break.  I bought one for me and one as a housewarming gift for a friend when they were on special for $50 each a few months back:  http://www.thewarehouse.co.nz/red/catalog/product/Magna-Tool-Aluminium-Case-Tool-Kit-63-Piece?SKU=1592570

Modern doors normally only have a cardboard honeycomb inside so not a good idea. All weight will be on thin door veneer

How about using a bathroom vanity cupboard ? They tend to be slim enough so not too obtrusive. Probably pick one up for less than $100.00 shopping around.

I have discoved a simple solution to the fixing. You can get or easily make hooks that go over top of door. The I will do as suggested and find a slim cabinet and some pegboard inside ....sort of thing
