It's a specialised fibreglass, but still fibreglass. See, for e.g. here. You put it in with straps and a staple gun.

Thanks, we're in the early stages of deciding whether to build a house so always good to know what's available... (though I guess most new houses these days would have solid foundations?)

Thanks, we're in the early stages of deciding whether to build a house so always good to know what's available... (though I guess most new houses these days would have solid foundations?)


It varies. Plenty of new houses are built with timber or concrete piles - often with a concrete skirt around the outside. Depends where too. Personally, I wouldn't go for a solid slab anywhere earthquake prone. You can repair cracks but it never looks great.
