The product overview says:

"Eneloop celebrates another "milestone" in the continued development and progression of its "Ready to Run" rechargeable NiMH batteries by offering the limited edition "AA" batteries in chocolat colours which not only have a typical 2000mAh capacity but has a recharge cycle of up to 2,100 times."

I assume it's just an aesthetic/marketing thing to make peoplewant to buy them. They also seem to have a higher number of recharge cycles which is good I guess.

I bought some last time DSE (I think) had them on special - they seem quite good, at least comparable to the other NiMh I've used.  I haven't done any sort of test though

floydie: ...whats the deal with them are they the same as normal eneloops?

nothing is now the same as 'normal' eneloops

Eneloops were originally Sanyo
They are now panasonic (ie , now just another brand). They are nothing like the original eneloops, if anything they should be better

Lots of brands making good 'Low Self-discharge' batts now, but thats still a good price from DSE

But, wasting your money unless you have a good charger. No point of having good batts if a cheap charger cooks them.
Dont use overnight/trickle chargers, and make sure the charger actually charges & monitors each batt individually

Personally, I have many LSD/readytouse AA's & a  few good chargers. I hardly ever use my rechargable AA's now (just in my camera) .
Good Alkaline batts are now so cheap(in a 20 pack) its just not worth the hassle of rechargeables .
Also, rechargables have slightly less voltage than 'normal' AA's, this can sometimes be an issue when the device takes 4 or 8 AA's.
