Hey,

I'm having some trouble with my oven.

It appears to be putting out heat through the top set of vents in this picture, there are two wide vents at the top.

I know that all ovens vent some heat but the heat coming out of these vents seems excessive and appears to be preventing the oven from maintaining temperature. The oven has recently started venting more heat from these vents. Other than calling an electrician who will charge me to tell me I should keep an eye on it is there a way to tell what the problem is and fix it myself.

This is a picture of the oven.

I once called an electrician for that sort of thing. They replaced the seals, it kept doing it, and I figured it was normal. My brand new oven puts out a fair bit of heat. If it's not going to burn you and your oven reaches temperature I'm not sure I'd worry about it.

As it is an in-cabinet install the heat has to vent out the front.  It's designed to do that. Is this a sudden change or something you have just noticed?

If the oven cannot maintain temperature that is an issue. A service agent for that brand will quickly diagnose and fix it. Most likely any oven service person will.

We had exactly the same oven in our previous home and the heat does come out of the vents in the top edge of the door when it's closed - if that's what you mean?

I don't know how familiar you are with the different settings on the oven.  Some will cause a lot of venting (ie. fan oven settings) others won't.  If you are unfamiliar with what the settings mean I would start there before paying for a sparkie to come in.  Maybe Google for a user manual if you don't have one.

I have the exact same oven and yes there is a fair bit of heat coming from those vents.
behind them is all the electronics so the venting helps keep it cool

what setting are you using I normally use fan bake (the bottom setting)

Thanks, turned out not to be a problem.
