Anyone own one like that? Was planning on sticking it ontop of a 55 gallon drum with a lid that detaches.

I'm planning on doing the same thing so can't give feedback on how they work but general consensus online is that they work very well.

There are a couple of versions for sale on Trade Me around $50 which are similar to the Oneida Dust Deputy.

I bought one to use with my home vacuum cleaner, to keep the rather expensive filter as clean as poss
They really do work, you can see it filling up as you go .

I know they have also been used in vacs used in local toner cart re-manufacturing .

I think I'll do the same, that smaller version is only $7 USD + freight so really quite cheap.

I used to have a 'dust deputy' that fitted onto a 20L plastic bucket.  Worked like a charm for sander/planer/saw.

Ah yes, the battle of the cheap Chinese knock offs. I see that the dust deputy is $108.80 at Carbatec.

There is also plenty of information online on how to build your own cyclone from scratch.
