Due to ongoing issues with my landline since getting fibre I need to disconnect my security alarm from the phone line.

 

The security guy says  "The best way to disconnect the monitoring is to join the IN and OUT wiring together in the control panel, as this will eliminate the alarm system from the phone line all together!"

 

 

The above is a photo of two wire blocks with TELCO LINE written underneath. I presume one is IN and one is OUT and it matters not which is which.

 

What I need to know is do I join...

 

(white1 - white2) and (brown - blue)?

 

or...

 

(white2 - blue) and (white1 to brown)?

 

or...

 

(white1 - blue) and (white2 - brown)?

 

To actually do the joining, I unscrew each wire from the block then just twisty them together in mid-air?

 

Any help greatly appreciated.

To remove it to test, then twisting in mid air will be fine (Test only)

 

White to white, Blue to Brown

 

To bypass permanently - Use 2 Scotch lock connectors (Less than $1 each from an electrical wholesaler with no account)

 

To just stop it grabbing the line, but still allow it to communicate, connect Brown to Blue and into the Blue hole, then same for White in the Left hand White hole.

 

Basically, what the alarm does when it tries to communicate is disconnects the Brown and White from the circuit, makes it's call to the monitoring station, then connects it all back up again.

You simply want to join the brown+blue together and blue/white and brown/white together.

Thanks. If I need them disconnected permanently I'll get the security guy to do it, as he will have to install an IP or cellular module instead so we can keep it monitored.

Of course the alarm will probably keep annoying you with comms failure alerts if you don't disable communication in the alarm settings after removing the phone line.

If you just want to bypass it temporarily and don't have any connectors handy you could just move the brown+white over and piggy back them on top of the brown+white (brown on top of blue, which on top of white). A bit more reliable than twisting them.

keeping in mind once you have removed the wiring from the terminals you will more than likely have a "line fault" come up on the keypad. Once the IP module is installed it should go away

I dont think anything happens at the house. Initially we had no phone at all and we didn't get any alarms. The security company did but they didn't bother to let us know.

 

Its going to do a scheduled dial out at 3pm, so I'll disconnect after that.

Sorry I haven't replied to your email from last week. I was going to suggest patch from the phone port on the Huawei router through the patch panel directly to one phone only. Run that for a couple of days and see if phone issue persists.

Hi Fraser, I tried patching just one phone directly into the router but the issue remained.

 

I've now eliminated the MySky, alarm, and Suresignal as causes. This just leaves the router, VF are sending me a new one to swap out.
