Hi we are looking at getting a water feature that runs off a 240v pump - just trying to factor in what the likely cost of a outside Powerpoint would be - anyone have a ballpark figure? there is a inside Powerpoint on the inside wall

way too many factors that you haven't given any info on, call your electrician and ask for a quote

Outdoor Socket - Approx $35 - $50 ex GST

RCD for the main switchboard - Approx $100 - $150 ex GST

Cable - Approx $1.20 - $1.50 per metre

Labour - Approx Anyones Guess, Call Your Sparky but at a guess it might be at least 2 hours work.

Not sure if you can actually piggy back off the nearby indoor socket but may be able to pull that up the wall to draw a new wire for the outdoor socket and pull it back down etc.

Either way, you are not allowed to do this work yourself.

Do you have a newer house or older house? Is there spare room on the switchboard for an RCD?

When we put in an outdoor power socket we piggy-backed off one on the inside.

The electrician said this was easy to do.

Our entire switchboard is RCD protected so didnt need to do anything extra there on that account.

Sorry, I dont remember the cost, but it did take a couple of hours, which included tea, coffee and biscuits.

Life is too short to remove USB safely.
