Obviously built for a wide temperature range, being located in NY so no issues with that. Also will be built to very strict codes. Not sure about eq performance but it's mostly wood and steel by the sound of it, materials we use here.

Would sure speed up the housing shortage if we could bang up houses at this speed.

Have a look.

It was assembled in 2 days, no word on how long it took to build the prefab components. Also nothing about the price, aside from the implication that it is cheap. Looks like they're not counting prepping and pouring the foundation in that 2 days either.

Also, its a fish-bowl. Fine in the middle of the woods, not so much in a standard kiwi subdivision. Would make a great bach though.

cleaning the windows is going to be a mission. It would be great though on a lifestyle block.

I guess they could treat the glass like they do on commercial buildings.

It's not the design so much as 48 hours vs 6 months on site....!

Looks great but, agree, all that glass would pose huge problems on most sites.

Hubby pointed that house out to me and said he wasn't sure he'd like to live without any way to block the windows. My first question was about the insulating properties with all that glass. He told me it was triple glazed. My next question was how much did it cost? Kind of an important point missed out there.

48 hours, assuming you have every single person swarm the site and doing their jobs all at once, or as early and quickly as possible.

Consents, tradies, etc. and it'll all fall to bits. Good in concept, but it isn't just the builders who hold up houses being built.

I wouldn't, but adding curtains or blinds is not really the builder's job...! I have to say I see a lot of houses in the countryside where no curtains are drawn at night.

I believe the article (at least the one I read) called out the fancy built in blinds.

Oh, all good then. I have a friend who has a sea view and the one wall is all glass. She has to get a guy to clean it every once in a while. They can afford it though. They don't have blinds but the are on top of a hill and far enough away from a road on that side that you can't see in.

A bit of googling shows it won architectural awards in a US 500K-1 Millon category, ( ex land) ,

Its a Banker's Bach, that he intends to use on weekends from his home in NY, (until they retire, and build they new house nearby, when this will become the guest house..

Its probably not really an example of how to build housing quick in NZ,

It is, however, an example that demonstrates we could put houses up a great deal faster than we do...
