MadEngineer: Since when do builders install heat pumps?

DeLonghi used to sell "DIY install" split heat pump systems that anybody could install. They connected to power from the indoor high-wall unit, flexible refrigerant pipes with connectors and the electric cable plugged in to the outdoor unit. They worked fine, came with a fixed length of pipe about 4m long, so limited options for where they could be installed.  Not to be confused with the "portable" A/Cs which need to be vented  and aren't very good, or the old style window mount units.

Ideal for temporary buildings / portacoms etc. as you could easily remove then reconnect the outdoor unit.  I have a feeling they may have been taken off the NZ market as when installed there was no mains power isolator switch outside, so they probably fell foul of electrical regulations.
