I want to get something very similar to this (See link below) here in NZ. My requirements are that the sliding mechanism is very shallow. Shallower the better.

I would call it 'barn door' if it had an antique style exposed track like this:

This guy is in Auckland.

Yeah, Barn door hardware was going to be the original I dear, but it requires too much clearance above the top of the door hence the reason for wanting a shallow hardware.

The ceiling height is about 2.0~2.1 meters high.

Was at a friend's apartment the other day where due to space limitations they had a slider installed using a stainless rod and roller system a bit like this:

http://www.kncrowder.com/slidingdoor/crt102.php

Was quite effective - door was a semi-transparent custom fabric print on a frame, the stainless rod and hardware a feature that didn't need to be concealed behind/under a pelmet.

Just throwing an idea out there -  wouldn't suit many decors or tastes - but worked well for their situation.

Edit - snap - much the same as the link by kryptonjohn.

Yeah, jimbob needs something that doesn't hang the door far below the track. I though I could find a system where the wheels were attached to the side, not the top of the door - like the wheel and track system used in kitchen drawers. Couldn't find it but.

Here are a couple of links to some if you are just wanting the hardware. I suspect some of these NZ door companies just buy them in from china too as most of these things seem to be made in china.

They look nice. However I don't have the available clearance for that kind of hardware. I have about 60mm between the top of the door and the Ceiling .

If you go to the Hafele catalogue you should be able to find one that will allow this http://easylink.hafele.com/is-bin/INTERSHOP.enfinity/WFS/HNZ-EasyLink_HNZ-Site/en_NZ/-/NZD/Haefele_ViewApplication-RedirectPDFCatalog?RedirectURL=%2Fis-bin%2Fintershop.static%2FWFS%2FHNZ-EasyLink_HNZ-Site%2FHNZ-EasyLink_HNZ%2Fen_NZ%2Fpdfcatalog%2FNZ01SFBUILD%2Findex.html%3Fstartpage%3DI

Henderson brand hardware is stocked by various suppliers in NZ. I sourced some low profile top hung rollers and track from mitre10 last time I needed some.
