A locksmith recently installed a magnet on my in-laws' front door, which holds it closed quite firmly when not locked. Not a solution that I've seen before, but seems to work quite well.

Edit: They don't have a draught strip - so can't comment on that aspect.

Is it a pair of disc shaped powerful magnets mounted in the door edge and frame?

 

I've put dozens of them in the cupboard doors - they're great but not sure the closing force will be sufficient.

Yes, that's right. It's a fairly firm hold - will "grab" the door before it's in the fully closed position.
