I read the forum about a previously posted problem.
We also removed an old F&P dishwasher to discover that new dishwashers don't fit.
Before attacking the cabinet next to it I thought maybe we can just remove the side panel of the dishwasher...?
The new Westinghouse sticks out 150mm, my husband says that's how it's going to stay.
It looks ridiculous, of course.
Any help is welcome, thanks.

I've replaced 4 dishwashers that I recall - two were F&P conventionals, one was some other brand conventional and one was F&P dishdrawers The space on all was exactly standardised at 60cm (which is also a standard size for ovens) and they all just fitted the original space without any issue.

There are also slimline 45cm dishwashers available - but obviously they're not as useful if you have a family.

So your problem is that the new dishwasher is too deep or too wide?

Same thing happened to us (depth) - the F&P was for some reason about 2cm deeper (because of the top panel) then the rest of the market. So what I could do was either to remove the top panel or make a small recess in the wall - cut a hole in the gib which gave us additional 1cm which was enough...

sticks out 150mm??

15cm - half a foot?

Do you mean 15mm? As said above, every dishwasher I've ever replaced has been 60cm wide and about the same depth - they have always fitted into the gaps OK. Is yours too deep? If it doesn't fit, what is it hitting at the back? Most kitchen benches should be more than 60cm deep.

When my sister had a new house built the kitchen guy left a space that just fitted her dishwasher that was 585mm. When it came time to replace the dishwasher she bought same brand but it had increased slightly to ~595mm wide. The nominal 600mm gap in the cabinets wasn't exactly square so it was a very tight fit. In the end a bit of silicone spray on the sides of the dishwasher did the trick. If you are starting from scratch the hole should be more like 620mm.

Kitchen kits and installers should all build to 600mm modules - that's the basic unit for ovens and dishwashers (although 900 ovens are also popular).

Thanks, the gap is not wide enough, it's a matter of mm really, maybe we should try by taking the top off, there's a mm overhang on both sides.
