We seemed to have had a bit of bad luck with the knobs on our hob breaking. They're plastic so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised.

What I want to know is if anyone knows of a good place to get these? I need 6 (3 broken.. may as well replace them all) for a reasonable price? All the place I see online so far are like $22 EACH.. $130 + shipping doesn't sound reasonable for 6 small pieces of plastic.

It seems that Aliexpress doesn't have any that have the correct orientation we need (maybe F&P are just a special bunch) - but we need the 'D' bit orientated different to all the other ones I've seen.

These looked good, particularly being metal, but the 'D' needs to be rotated by another 45 degrees, which they don't sell.

This is what mine look like

Any ideas??

I had some on a Simpson that lasted about 5 minutes. I filled the area around the shaft hole on the replacements and they haven't broken 4 years on.

If it was me, I'd 3D-print them.

This is one of the knobs reinforced with Araldite

If you get to a damaged knob early enough this could probably save it.

Try wrapping a cable tie around the fractured shaft, tightening it enough so the fracture is closed,  and then epoxy / araldite it the fracture and the space around it. Or use Need-It epoxy.

If still a bit loose, a short length of heatshrink on the shaft may give sufficient friction fit.

My thoughts are no longer my own and is probably representative of our media-controlled government

Maybe see if a recycling centre will let you pinch some off something bound for the scrap heap?

Gasmate make replacement BBQ Knobs - I know I've seen them in Mitre10, but cannot find them on their website. (Found them on Bunnings website: https://www.bunnings.co.nz/gasmate-chrome-bbq-knobs-2pk_p00929733)

From memory they're in bags that allow you to check the orientation before buying.  $16.89 for two is better than $22 for one.
