So, 12 months ago I got a painter to waterproof and paint the outside of my house. He took bo00dy ages, and the job (which included unexpected plastering) went through winter.
At the same time, I had UPVC windows installed. He said he could paint them, too.
Unfortunately, the paint didn't stick that well to the windows, but did stick to the rubber. Many of my windows were painted shut. Those that opened, have torn paint where the paint was ripped off by sticking to the rubber. I managed to get all windows opening now but I also want him to remediate the rubber on the new windows too, not just repaint the frame (he doesn't know that yet).
He said that the problem was he was trying to paint in the dead of winter with the paint not curing in time, and he'd come back in summer to finish the job. Also, there was a little bit of touch-up painting to be done, mainly some gutter and roof, plus I think he needs to put another coat on the soffits. Need I mention paint scratched by the scaffolders bringing the scaffold down??
I was silly enough to pay the full balance of the job (billed weekly, and he literally has about a day to finish everything) so I can't threaten not to pay. I'm sure he's not made a profit on my job but that's not my concern anymore!
So I've emailed him a few times without response and I want to call him to put a rocket up his backside.
What are my options to encourage/threaten him with? So I'm pi$$ed off and out of patience. How can I get the job finished?
