Another Dyson fan here.

We have a corded vac and a v8 stick at home; and a v6 stick-vac in the apartment.  All excellent.

The v6 is good for about 35m2 of carpet before it needs charging/emptying.  The v8 is good for about 50m2 of carpet.

In the house we tend to use the corded unit downstairs and the stick upstairs and on the stairs.

I find it difficult to believe the v10 stick would do a whole house - the bin is only 40% bigger and it runs for up to an hour on the lowest power setting.

We've had a DC41 for years and last week the internal hose had split. Replaced it with a 10 Absolute +.

I had reservations - but have nothing but praise for it. Carpet in our bedrooms seems to cling on to fluff and cat hair and even the DC41 in its prime needed a couple of passes to suck it all up. The 10 manages complete cleaning with one pass.

Battery - finding about 60 mins run time on low power (I've only once or twice needed to move briefly to full power for something stubborn). I did a test on med and low and got about 30 and 10 minutes respectively. The wall dock is great and super easy to use too.

Weight - I had concerns about the weight, but needn't have. The unit is perfectly balanced when using with the floor tools and extension and isn't tiring to hold at all. A lot of the weight is bourne by the floor tool. Gets a little heavier when using without the long extension (to do stairs etc) but is still easier than manoeuvring the long hose on the DC41.

Attachments - more that I'd ever know what to do with!

The replacement part for the DC41 arrived yesterday and I fixed that - did a side by side test (very unscientific - just emptied the vacuum onto the floor and cleaned it up with both machines) and the 10 still performed better.

So no hesitations in recommending the 10.
