Aluminium slatted side gate. Any advice on this subject appreciated. Have had a couple of quotes on 1.8m high by 1.3m gate, posts, etc. They are not cheap to buy. I have enginerring and ally welding experience.
Any advice on where to get a reasonable prices on extrusion appreciated. Also any construction advice. Thanks

- Make a frame (for the gate part) out of steel. Put some hinges on it, then attach chosen fence pails (attach wood to the metal frame then you can nail the pails to the wood)

- Next, obviously need to hang it on a post but rather than use two individual hinge posts, get a long metal (same as what you used for the gate), attach that to the wooden post then attach the hinge bolts to the metal.

- Hang the gate.

Why, the hinges wont sag overtime causing the gate to drop, so metal frame keeps square espcially when attached to the hinge bolts that have been attached to the metal on the post.

make sense?

I should have said i prefer the look of the powder coated aluminium gate, in particular the slatted / louvered style you see used on new homes. Just woundering if anyone has experience making one.
