We renovated around 2 years ago and replaced all the windows to new double glazed windows instead of retrofit after getting quotes from Nustyle and Retrofit.

Total 24 windows or so and cost us 30k I believe, missus was working for a major glass company so we got a big discount on the glass, I also managed to sell all the old windows etc so it cost a lot less than it would have been (also changed all the colors in the process which is a bonus and not possible with retrofit obviously).

Would have been 30K before your discount (I hope) ?

Actually total 32 joineries and we paid about 35k altogether with installation. I manage to sell the old joineries for a couple of k.

It's just peace of mind rather than dealing with retrofit old stuff.

Ah OK, remember asking quite a few years ago for a rough idea of price for replacement double glazing and it was about a thousand per window. It was an eek moment then when we actually counted our windows...

we got a few quotes for changing out the windows in our house. shocked by the variations in price. Cheapest place to completely replace the windows with double glazing was $20k - most expensive was $35k. We ended up getting stick on double glazing that goes on the inside of the windows. Looks wise I like it, I was a bit iffy about how easy it would be to clean but so far so good. Company name is magicseal

Can’t afford it myself. This place has a hell of a lot of windows, four of them really big, all of them have casement, side opening parts, all wooden and I like the look of the painted wood. I went around and put foam gaskets everywhere I could, have thermal curtains on most, blinds on others... we also have five glass doors, three of which are French doubles. Crazy. We should probably brick some up! I put gaskets around all doors and draft stoppers at the bottom of inside opening ones and a strip over the outside join between each set of French doors... it all helps but if the wind is hitting the south side there's no hope of stopping a bit of ... ventilation.
