It's been three months since I got burgled and State Insurance have still not replaced my window. Is this acceptable?

I’m with AMI - all it took was a single call to them after we had a broken window and hours later it was fixed

I'm just wondering whether I got a particularly incompetent case manager or whether that's how State do things generally.  I'm not after dissing a company I've been with for 30 years but I'm starting to feel my loyalty wane ...

Tell them that. Seriously, unless you kick up a stink you wont get anywhere. Tell them that if they don't have it sorted in the next week, you're going elsewhere.

In my experience, you need to keep chasing them, nothing happens otherwise. I had a contents claim take 9 months to resolve with State, and that was with me calling them at least once a month. 

 

A family member had 1 car and 1 house claim, take 6+ months each, with the exact same issue I had.

That doesn't sound right. We were with State when we got burgled a few years back and they were great, window fixed in a few days and paid out on goods within a couple of weeks. Give them a buzz and kick up a stink.

It doesn't sound right. I only ever had two claims with State - one was a broken glass door, replaced same week. The other was a car accident (hit from behind). It took state less than a week to send payment for the amount insured - they decided to simply total it because of bent chassis.

 

Call again quoting the case number.

Sounds like you're paying for a service and not receiving that service. Totally in your rights to complain about it.

Have they said least provided a temporary solution? Eg boarded up the window.

Ask them who their approved repairer/tradesperson is in your town. 
Call them, book the job and tell them its a state insurance job with the claim number.

I've found State very quick and helpful. Get on the phone and make a polite stink. If you're nice to people they will generally want to help you.

Yes, we had one with AMI....repair guy came same day and boarded it up (Saturday), back Monday and replaced the window.

 

No excess on glass either.

I rang Vero a week ago asking who their preferred windscreen place was. 5 mins later Novus rang me to confirm that it wasn't a chip that could be repaired before ordering the screen. 3 working days after 1st call all fixed.

parents had a broken window during an attempted burglary a few weeks ago.
Contacted State who sent a repairer around within a few days.
Something has obviously gone amiss with your claim.
presumably you reported it to the police and gave state the incident case number?
