I did. Discovered that wile some bulbs were the old low energy, some were the really old ones, not low energy, in fact there were some 200w bulbs being used in bedrooms. !!!

The entire house has LED bulbs now, assorted types and sizes. Bought online, far cheaper.

I bought mine from Aliexpress, different suppliers, and at first they seemed fine, but I have now had three failures that had only been operating a few weeks. They are all bayonet fitting from the same batch. So far the Edisons, which have been in for longer, are still doing fine. There may be an element of risk in buying from the cheapest supplier, but NZ prices need to be reasonable.

I replaced all lights in our house with LEDs from Aliexpress. They are far cheaper than anything local. I thought I was prudent about this. First I ordered a small batch, 10 or so, and tried them for several months. They have been perfect. Then I ordered some more, and some more. Ultimately I ended up with more than 60, both fitting types.

The first batch is still going strong, but the others are an unmitigated disaster. Lights have started failing on an almost daily basis. At least half-a-dozen have gone dead with two weeks of usage. It looks like a classic case of Chinese rubbish. The bad lights look identical to the good ones. There is no way to tell a difference.

I don't know what can be done about this. I tried to leave a message with the supplier but am not sure it worked and haven't had any response. Disputes are time limited and of course that doesn't take account of something like this. I may try to pursue the matter on general principles, but I expect I will just have to take my loss. I am posting this as a warning to others. I thought the Chinese bulbs were a good deal, and I have mainly had good luck with Chinese purchases in the past, though not always. This is my worst experience ever. If you buy LED lights from Aliexpress, be aware that it really is the luck of the draw. Some seem okay, but many are just useless junk.

LED's are just one of those products that going generic is really risky. Aliexpress disputes is not great, in my experience. Generally, I don't buy anything from chinese stores if I care about quality or service or even receiving the goods.
