Hi my 12 yo kid would like a MacGyver style swiss army knife. But I can't find one...

Does anyone know where I can get one that's cheap and half decent?

Thanks

When I was about nine or ten, I was desperate to have a ‘pocket knife’. They had some in the local general store.

My mum said “No, you’ll cut yourself”.

“No, I won’t - I’ll be careful”.

“You will”.

“I won’t - I promise”.

Etc etc.

Eventually my parents gave in and, after I had had the knife a few days, I cut myself and they took me to the doc for stitches in my finger.

Yes I'm wanting him to learn some real life lessons. Hopefully at the end of all that he'll still be in one piece.

Common sense is not as common as you think.

Go with the first one though - you haven't lived until you've opened a tin of baked beans with a swiss army knife then eaten straight out of the tin with a knife blade ;D

There are two companies that make the official "Swiss Army Knife" and Victoriknox seems to be the more popular brand.

thanks all.

just in case someone wants to buy the torpedo7 $35 dollar one, it's a mini pocket knife, about 1.5-2 inches long. get the ones that start fr $45 and they're the 4-5 inch ones.

Even Moore Wilson's in Wellington have a decent selection of Victorinox knives.

I bought two small ones on TM a few years ago. $20 and perfect for my key ring.
