Hmm, not sure if it's a recent change maybe? It's definitely $200 split between the referrer and referral, so $100 each, at the moment (with Contact).

Maybe it's different in different regions, my EK console says $50. I got this August 12th. Not trying to argumentative, just interested :) I've probably referred more people than average.

You missed the part in bold: "It's definitely $200 split between the referrer and referral, so $100 each, at the moment (with Contact)."

You are correct that EK offers a $50 referral discount (to both parties).

Oh, ok. I had only read this post, I missed any others, but in my defense I'd had a couple of rums by then :)

Ah my bad - that referral code is for Contact specifically. Sorry, I should have mentioned that in the post. The context was a user had seen the thread and PMed and kindly offered to use my code seeing as I'd mentioned I'd swapped to Contact from EK and used a code myself.

You're correct the EK referral scheme has always been $50.

I think I got up to 8 referrals made to EK myself, so believe me when I say switching away from them wasn't something I was massively keen on.

Wow! That must just about make you majority shareholder in Electric Kiwi. Not to mention paying for like a year's power.

Had a PM from a GZer asking for a referral code - oddly enough, I don't seem to be able to reply them.

Not particularly looking to self promote this, but should someone wish to use my code and avail themselves of $100 credit (I get $100 too) then my code is FR9N3YG.

Just made the switch from EK to Contact myself. Thanks for the $100, and enjoy yours!

Daily charges were the same, but 3c less per kWh, plus two extra hours free per day. Makes no sense not to switch from an economic perspective.

I remember EK saying if it cost's more in the first year they'll refund you the difference. Has anyone been through that process? How is it calculated?

I'm seriously considering switching to Contact as it's quite alot cheaper

It looks like they've increased the rates for this reason? https://www.electrickiwi.co.nz/movemaster/

Unfortunately, I have already moved and currently on a contract.

It told me to ask live chat, but I put my neighour in. Here's the standard prices. Note that peak includes weekends.

That means off peak is about 6c cheaper than current, but on peak is 9c more. I think that's really only good for people with EVs who aren't at home during the day. We're home with heating on all day four days a week so we'd likely pay more.

Pay for what you use

Peak

(7am-9am, 5pm-9pm)

$0.3113 per kWh

Off-peak shoulder

(9am-5pm, 9pm-11pm)

$0.1930 per kWh

Off-peak night

(11pm-7am)

$0.1557 per kWh

Plus a fixed cost of

$1.9900 per day
