Does the DIY unit report power usage like the OEM one?

zenourn:

If not taken by neb I'll happily take it - I have a S21 on mine and keen to see if it will work. Thanks.

@zenourn you're welcome to grab it, given the mucking around I've already had to do so far with the Broadlink and the fact that you can get the BRP072C42 from Malaysia for $60-80 I'll bite the bullet and go with the official solution.

Mine arrived yesterday (Thanks @patrickslee), and I didn't realise till late last week I'd need the interface board for my unit... as I understand it, the BRP072C42 is the wifi controller itself, the BRP980B42 is the interface board required. was the $60-80 you mention for the C42 or B42 ? and would you mind posting a link?

I've contacted a couple of suppliers, and they are getting me prices for the B42 locally, looks like it'll be ~$130ish. However, if that ends up being a bust (can't get it, or the ESP32 unit doesn't work with my FTXV71), I'll have one available to pass on.

Oh that's sad. My 4x >10 year old units (3x 2kw and 1x 5kw) have S21 ports on the main board. Quite a bit of hassle to take it apart but now I can look at status and remote control all 4 of them.

Hah, it's all good - I have another unit at some clubrooms that might be able to take it which will make it useful. I'm also running a Sensibo on the unit at home, so I'm pretty set, but will be nice to have non-cloud control. The old unit we had till earlier this year would have taken it fine - but this one is brand new (old one was beginning to fail, and the indoor unit was leaking condensation in cooling mode - the coolant insulation was breaking down and allowing condensation to form in places where it wouldn't drip into the tray)

It was the C42, and it was on Shopee which means you'd need to get someone in Malaysia to forward it to you. Here's one link, but that one's closer to $100. The $60 end of the scale is used ones.

Soo... the C42 arrived and alongside Thai and Vietnamese and others the manual was also in English which was useful, except that the head unit doesn't have the S21 connector but only the S403, although I could have sworn when I pulled it apart originally to check I saw an S21.

See my earlier rant about Daikin's user-hostile WiFi.

If anyone has one of these available in NZ please PM me :-) Out of stock on Amazon UK now and I'm not into the surface mount soldering!

You can buy mine if you want: while I was able to connect to the module, it wasn't able to read from my heatpump, probably because of the weird daughter-board setup involved.

I can sell you the module as well as an official S21 cable for a total of $60 incl shipping after you've gotten it working.
