got that drain at work. i would be concerned that any mesh type product will cause leafs to build up and not let water through. like with most gutter products, resulting in the gutter not working at all.

the only good way i know of is getting the water speed about right. to slow doesn't wash the leafs down the drain, to fast the water runs off leaving the leafs behind. at work we have a big hose i can easily wash it out with.

This drain won't block, it's too long and there's not enough leaves, plus I maintain things fairly well. Even if it blocked there's a second level of drain on a lower level down most of the driveway, so no problem there. There's no way to adjust slope, it's set in concrete.

I think the gutter brush or similar is the simplest idea I've heard so far. Quick and easy :)

I ws thinking about this and I reckon Gutter Guard would work to a degree, but you'd still have the leaves...just on top rather than in the bottom of the drain.

... but at least the leaves will not block the outlet pipe which is the main problem.

but if water cant get to the outlet pipe by not getting into the drain in the first place where does it end up?

The driveway is at least 10 meters long with drainage along the side, given the volume of leaves there is no possible way that the whole drain will be blocked. The only place blockage is plausible is at the white pipe, and even then since I clear it out every few weeks blockage is unlikely.

The main question is how to get rid of the annoying bit of wire and put in something better to reduce leaves going down that white pipe. I think a gutter guard would work well.
