Hi we;'ve been with AMI and have heard they are being bought out left right and centre.

Got a house in Chch - heard IAG will continue to insure - there is no option as no other people will newly insure for a while .. or is there? (can i move to someone else or to IAG itself?)

but let's s say i want to buy a property elsewhere, a car and have contents.

house - ideally covers full replacement, no excess on glass and sanitary, and good payout rate. AMI used to be the best but look what happened!

car - i love freeBmax!

contents -

any idea which is best? (yes i know i should do the research myself but i don't have time YET - will definitely when the time comes ...) but in case anyone had done super research recently.

dont get fooled by policy grouping at one place to get 'discounts'.. i've checked and it often isnt a better deal.

i have car with AMI, have had so for years and they've been great. had a couple of people crash into me over time, got everything sorted with no money changing hands - excellent service.

AA is my contents provider. They have the best policies - new for old including sports - are well priced, and great to deal with. A few friends have recently changed there. i'd put them at top for contents. No idea about their house or car policies.

I have house with AMI too, but have never made a claim against it so cant rate performance there.

We have our house and contents with Westpac (not by choice, only way we could get insurance after quake was to take on previous owners cover) and cars with AA. AA have been great to deal with, after my partners latest prang everything went smoothly, their policies are also really competitive and come with good coverage.

Haven't had to claim under Westpac yet (have had contents with them for a few years), only claims have been via EQC and have been under cap. Westpac is underwritten by Lumleys and aren't that competitive really.

Would be interested to see who you finally pick as once insurance freeze thaws we'll be looking at shopping around.
