Signed up for a trial. I have found out that I can't stream via AirPlay to my appletv from and iPad or iPhone. This is a ridiculous decision to limit this function. What is the difference between AirPlay and just plugging a computer via Hdmi into your tv? I can stream via AirPlay and my mac though which just proves that they are dicks.
Took another look at the site. Looked at pricing, and searched for a few of my favourite (mainstream) movies and TV series.
Bottom line - still have the same view I had when it first came out - "nice concept, shame about the implementation"
Overpriced for what it offers and compared to comparators like Netflix, has a very poor range of films and TV shows, and still no deal with an ISP to stop serious use demolishing bandwidth caps.
Even if I can find a film I want to see, $6.99 "pay per play" for a dated film that I can get for $1 for a week from the video rental shop on my street (which has a far better range, and provides media that doesn't eat my data cap and is reliably playable on any TV) doesn't compare well.
Will take another look in 6 months to see whether it has improved.........
Yes, that reminds me; I meant to comment here too. We have been trialling it for the last couple of weeks, but will not continue.
The selection is poor, for one thing. Another is that on our Mac Mini 2009 model - 2.3GHz Core 2 Duo, 2GB RAM, nVidia 9300M graphics, which plays HD iTunes movies flawlessly - the full screen performance is execrable. It might be getting 15FPS, if we're lucky. Since the Mac is the one connected to the plasma TV, and thus the main intended consumer of content, that's a fatal flaw.
Obviously this is a Silverlight issue; but since Quickflix is only Silverlight, that makes it a Quickflix issue.
Maybe I'll come back in a year or so and have another look.

If you want to get excited about QuickFlix check out the Australian site, it is amazing. I wouldn't say 'they have everything' but I got bored looking before I got to the end of the TV section.
There is only one question for QuickFlix NZ; When will our content be as good as Aussie?
