Hello. This is a 2-part query.

1) i Googled & found a way of putting Quickflix movies / account on my Tivo.

I've got a "Caspa on Demand" option on my Tivo, but no "video on demand" (as i saw in the Youtube video.

Is Tivo different in other countries ? & is it possible to add Quickflix to Tivo in NZ ?

2) my PC hasn't got Quicksilver, however I do play movies on my IPAD 2.

Tonight, ive encountered a prob where the movie stops / freezes a minute & restarts. (I did shut-down / reboot my IPAD & tried again.)

I suspect it has trouble tonight with my bandwidth & slow net connection. (Quickflix is the only high-bandw2idth thing I use).

QUERY: Is it possible to 'download' the entire movie into my IPAD 2 - or BUFFER it, and play it direct - without watching / downloading it at same time..

IE, buffer 30 minutes of it, & start watching - & while I watch the movie, it downloads the rest..

I've not had this prob in past, but i dont watch many Quickflix movies...

Ps - During my Google search, I found this article, which says TIVO in NZ is going to end sometime (or being phased out / closing).

NZ Telecom, that owns TIVO, is focusing on another service.

Did you see the date it was published - Jan 2012 - over a year ago.

I think that there would be quite a big problem if they shut down tivo in NZ as it would make all their in use boxes as about useful as a brick and with such strong consumer protection in NZ their only way out would be to buy back all the boxes and can't really see that happening either

Telecom do not own tivo, they simply sold the boxes.

A company called hybrid owned the TiVo licence for Australasia, which was owned by tvnz and I think 7 from Australia. So they are the ones responsible for maintaining the epg etc

The article is old. The article doesn't say it's going to "close". And the article certainly doesn't say Telecom owns TiVo in New Zealand.

Telecom was a parner with TVNZ and Hybrid TV (this is the Australian company who owns rights to the TiVo brand) in distributing the boxes in this country. They never "owned" TiVo.

Also some people STILL BELIEVE that to be a TiVo user you have to have a Telecom account. This is wrong.

Every single time someone posts about TiVo closing we have to post this information.

And answering your question, yes the TiVo box sold in Australia and New Zealand have different software os it won't run Quickflix. Can you post the link to this "solution" you found?

The Youtube article I found is :-  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pvBs9lYms5c

However i don't have those options on my Tivo. (i've got version 3 Tivo) - i have "Caspa on demand" - but not video on demand.

Thanks for the info re Tivo / Telecom.

EDIT: Ps, I realise that NZ has different options than other countries - no worries. Just curious. I guess NZ can't get Netflix.

(I can only watch Netflix on my Ipad).
