Looks like they actually get a fair few overseas subscribers using the old VPN trick, reading a couple of forums based in the UK and they have a few guides on how to do it..

looks like they favour the Taiwanese site now as its cheaper.

Ellwood: its a tough call whether or not to re-join again or not, I think if they'd been a deal I would have just said ah well why not but as there hasn't been it forces you to think about it, can't see them offering one now as it'll piss the people off who dived in for the Copa America deal.

I pretty much just use it to watch my team, and maybe half a dozen other games throughout the season so probably $5 a game assuming you watch them all, I always watched the Saturday games, but generally missed any games that were on a Sunday and 50/50 during the week..

quality wasn't amazing but it was good enough, interesting there doesn't seem to be any developments this season.. inbetween 1 and 2 they revamped quite a bit.

decisions decisions, to subscribe or to settle for the 10 minute highlights on the clubs website..
This is exactly how I feel and my viewing habits also.

I am really on the fence this season.

I may just have to kill off sky sport and go with the PLP feed, as there's no Champions League on ESPN now.

I've decided not to go with PLP this year but subscribe to my club channel LFCTV GO it's only 100 bucks NZ for the season and as I don't mind watching things delayed it won't be a problem, with Freeview TVNZ has big weekend matches live plus the highlight magazine show.

This could be good or bad for PLP. If they are relying on revenue from non NZ residents and use that revenue to determine how much they bid next time and then those people go elsewhere they could lose a lot of money.

It does seem a bit of a strange operation, here we are 10 days out from the season starting and the site is still branded in Copa America Livery saying sign up now and watch for it free..

I'm still kinds hoping a deal will come, maybe from them or spark (via lightbox maybe) or i could be tempted with the smart dns to the taiwan site..

A warning re: the Taiwan site, I read users in the UK state that their accounts were disabled when it was identified they weren't from Taiwan.

I'm not sure if they just check if users are "outside of the supported regions" or if they check that users that sign up via the Taiwan site are located in Taiwan. Also not sure how they checked, whether it was based on credit card address or IP it was being accessed from.

Ahh thats good to know. In that case, I dont think I would like to risk not being able to watch for something I paid money for. I would stick with PLP - provided they offer a decent deal for subscribers as well as good quality service. I am still on ADSL2 in my area.

I bit the bullet and went with the $19.90 per month option.
Effectively (what you don't get told pre-sign up) is that you are locked into a season long contract for $19.90 per month and you continue to be charged until the end of the season.

I think you need to physically cancel the subscription after the season ends to prevent ongoing charges.

It works out to be $1.00 more expensive over the season that paying in a lump sum up front.

It is what it is and if I miss out on a deal as a result of pulling the trigger too soon, so be it.

From what it sounds like Copa America was the early bird offer

Looks like I'll be going down the monthly pass route as well.

It is quite clear in the terms and conditions of purchase that you get AFTER you sign up to the monthly one.

In saying that, the tab for monthly payment does say monthly payment for the season, as opposed to a month-by-month cancellable subscription.

There's a lot of legalese to get through when you sign up...it is basically an agreement to pay the season pass in instalments and breaks down the way that this is applied and covers off the fact that there's no interest payable etc.

Which is bemsuing because IIRC the first season everything was really simple. Then Telecom got their grubby hands on it.
