Yes, the jump to $199 is a bit steep. I have managed to sign up to Fox Australia Premier League on Demand (I have UnoTelly DNS) it's AUD2.50 per week for a few weeks then AUD5.00 per week. It's about the same price wise but I'm going to give it a go to see if an how it works before I sign up to PLP again. Has anyone else tried it?

In other words they might have lost a customer through not repeating the early bird discount.

BTW - if you watch football on delay then check out my sig - my webpage which lets you see all the results but hides the score of your team when you sit down on a Sunday morning to watch the game.  I created it to make my own PLP experience better and I have to say it works for me!

voy1d: Sort of, they are now a JV.

Pity they can't use the Lightbox playstation app for PLP. My main complaint is that now 3 seasons in there is still no app available to me, despite having a smart TV, smart phone, tablet, PS3 and PS4. My only option remains to connect my laptop to the TV which results in a stuttery/jerky picture.

$200 is steep but will get discount from Spark and then too disimilar from last years price! What I object to is the quality of the live stream; it's just pants. I have the Samsung Smart TV app and it sucks. I also have the Lightbox and Netflix apps and they are in HD with an amazing picture. Can someone please tell me, why the difference in quality????

WolfmanNZ: Just got an email from them saying 3 months of Lightbox free if you sign up/renew.

I also got that after signing up but can't find the code to use...

I signed up today, but haven't received a code to use either... I'm guess it just takes a while to process?

Is that like the league one where you can only watch on tablet/phone laptop devices and the device you register determines screen size?  Which means you can't HDMI to a TV.

I don't know! It's a bit of a pain when you have to register devices. I wonder thow they work with AirPlay or Chromecast...

FOX tel looks like a good offer but it seems they are a bit unreliable according to Whirlpool thread.

"

Had this last season but I've decided to cancel it for this coming season. The quality of the stream was fine but there were small things that ruin the pass:

- Not always showing the early game, you would think given our time zone that should be a given especially when daylight savings comes around so people on the east coast at least get to watch one game before it gets late
- Initially they uploaded their on demand games pretty much the day after as they noted as their website but as the season went on they got slack and it took much longer
- Eventually some streams did not stream on kick-off time as the season went on
- Some games when there was a lot of injury time the stream just cut after say 95 mins rather than showing the entirety of the match (Arsenal vs Liverpool game last season for example), there must be some sort of timer before the feed cuts

IMO they should allow the user to select 4 games they would like to see live on the weekend rather than the 4 set ones every game week. If that was the case, I would have happily signed up again"

Aah. OK so it seems it is not all games and for on demand is not the whole game. Highlights are not such a bad thing really but the other problems look annoying. I think I'll keep the first month at 2.50 a week just to see what it was like.

Generally speaking PLP was reliable, and the picture quality didn't bother me, but what did get my goat was when I got the 'cannot stream due to bad internet connection' was actually was part of the stream and not really due to my connection - I know that as it happened at the same point in playback whenever I watched it. In other words it was like they were recording their own internet download to later stream and parts of it were inherently poor quality whatever my connection was like.

Did you try manually setting the bitrate by any chance?

The taiwan pricing has been released US$99.90 for the season or US$9.90 a month. If you sign up to this though you run the risk of having your account suspended as your not accessing it from taiwan. so beware of that if you go for that option. might just do the NZ pricing anyway, with the lightbox 3 months it is like it's only $160, and the US$99.90 is about NZ$150. and the risk of having my account suspended is not worth the $10 saving. Also it says the lightbox code comes the day after you subscribe in your welcome email pack.

disappointed that there is still no ps4 app but I have my iPad and apple tv which has worked good. Only other problem is the All Blacks game won't be finishing til around 12 and the United game kicks off at 11:45!

Not that I know of. Does that make it better or worse?

The "Best Quality" or VBR setting will adjust the bitrate based on perceived network conditions. This would be why the quality was shifting as you were watching the games.

Next time you try, try manually setting the bitrate and adjust as necessary. You'll find the one that is best for your connection and stick with that.

As an example if I watch an NHL game using the PS3 it will constantly shuffle the quality, however if I log into my laptop and select the highest quality (I believe around 4000 kbps) then it will hold steady and I will enjoy an uninterrupted stream.

I was really happy with PLP last season, always had reliable connection and good quality streams, but I paid $149 last year and this time can't justify $199. Couldn't care less about Lighbox. Disappointed also about lack of devices.
