Arsenal game worked well enough for me this morning. Didn't have any buffering or freezing which I sometimes get. Just the usual bit of jerkiness when playing through the laptop connected to the TV. This is as good as it's going to be for me until either Sky get it back or an app becomes available to me. Anyone know any settings either on the laptop or TV (LG42M6200) that might improve the jerkiness? I have hardware acceleration unticked, and local storage set to unlimited in flash player settings and this gives the best result. Anything else I could try in addition?

1st half of Spurs game went ok. 2nd half dropped out repeatedly and I had to restart the app.

Watch Man Utd v Spurs with the laptop connected to 50" TV via HDMI...terrible picture. Disconnected and watched on the laptop, much better but still not satisfactory IMO. Last season I watched most games delayed and this was live so maybe I'll just do that as the cached games were much better quality than live ones.

Hi

I subscribed to Premier League Pass last week.

Tried to watch a game on new 40" Samsung TV but buffering occurred every 2-3 minutes.

Started watching it on the iPad app and no problem.

Trouble is that I want to watch it on the TV.

Any advice gratefully received.

Simple:

  • Plug laptop into TV via HDMI cable
  • Open PLP website on laptop and Voila!  PLP on TV.
  • It's the simplest solution rather than messing around with an iPad.

I watched the Man U v Spurs game on the TV via an AppleTV & iPhone6 over AirPlay. Worked as good as it did last season, reasonably solid stream but the quality is still less than HD, with the occasional distinctive 'judder' & dropped frames.

Thanks, Grant K

I have a laptop but it's in constant use and hooked up to speakers, printer, modem, etc.

Your idea seems quite good but it's a bit too much hassle in my case.

The most effective way is to airplay via Apple TV/iPad - assuming that the bandwidth in your home isn't being sucked up by anything/anyone else...

But it's not going to be perfect.

Kopkiwi: When PLP was first launched, people in here were looking at other options for overseas streams, couple of people found some great quality HD streams. I can't find the names of the sites on here. Does anyone remember?

Anyone?

Does the PLP app have Chromecast support yet?  If not anyone know if they mean to add it?

There is this one, they use Neulion, but I haven't tried it and not sure if games are available On Demand, or if its just a sports channel(s) you can watch.

http://watch.sportsnet.ca/world/howtosubscribe.jsp

Actually just found this on GPForums:

"I've been using Sportsnet.ca for rugby this year. It's a Canadian website that offers a rugby package which includes super rugby, itm cup, curry cup, rugby championship, I think June and end of year tours and the NRL. I think it cost me $140nzd for a year subscription. I find the quality to be pretty decent. Could be a little more 'HD' at times but it was the best quality service that I could find at the time. I haven't tried livesport.TV.
It has a few nice features too like all games live, all games available on demand after its finished, able to rewind and rewatch parts during live games and a picture in picture mode as well as the ability to watch four games at once"

They accessed it via UnoTelly. NZD to CAD rate is good too, ~$115 NZD for BPL Season.

I bit the bullet - went for the premier league pass this season. No more looking for dodgy streams online this season.

Watched ManU on Saturday morninig excellent quality.
Watching Palace v Ars right now and the quality is awful! It's 1.30am so not a lot of traffic around, just spoken to my brother at 1/2 time, he has awful quality too, with freezing. So two different ISP's and the freezing is at the same point. I think someone said earlier that the feed itself is poor quality, this seems to give weight to that. I'm going to contact PLP tomorrow about this as this happened last season Manu Utd games were pretty good quality and Palace games were terrible (video quality!)

Used PLP last week to watch the 12:30am Monday game live and it worked fine with very little quality variation with the stream, however today is a complete mess. It'll stream perfectly for a short period, then start buffering and switch to a lower quality. Really grinds my nerves, never happens with Netflix.

Set up: iPad Air to Apple TV, 200Mbps fibre.
