JarrodM: They've put in a new sample, from the asia trophy Man City v Sunderland. But when trying to show off a football streaming service,it's probably a good idea to show some actual football not just the first 8 minutes of coverage with stadium panning and the teams walking out.

The last clip had plenty of football. It was also a blurry mess. Coincidence?

I've tried a newly-installed browser on a PC that has never visited the site before.

So they replied to my email about smart TVs very quickly to say there were no plans to support them, but they have ignored 2 emails asking whether the schedule would state which games were available on demand (one was in the sam email asking about smart TVs so they just didn't respond to this question) - it would be useful to know when my team's game won't be on demand so I know when I would be required to stay up to be able to watch it. So I guess we can assume you won't know until you login on the day. Which means that if you don't want to stay up all night, or get up at 3am and instead wait until the morning to watch on demand, then you'll just have to risk it each week and miss a third of your team's games. Either that, or stay up for the live game every week since you never know whether it will be on demand. I know someone said on here that someone told them all games would be on demand and the 250 was for multiple views, but the website does not suggest that.

The details for the basic pass:
•All Games
•All 380 Games Live
•250 Games On-Demand
•All Season

Platinum pass:
•All Access
•All 380 Games Live
•250 Games On-Demand
•All VOD Shows and Highlights
•All Season

Not sure I understand why only two thirds of the games can be available on demand. If they have the rights to all games, why can they not provide all games on demand?

Yep reloading the page brings up the new clip but it's nowhere near the quality that it needs to be.

There's no actual football, so they are hiding the motion problem, but if you look at the pitch it looks more like green sludge than grass. Best way to describe it is that it resembles watching FIFA13 on an XBox.

Good that they are aware of the issue though, because I would very much like this to succeed.

Rightio got the new stream and its a bit better. On fast panning it is terrible though, gets very blocky full screen at 1200p.

I know they've stated it is 720p but really, maximising on any modern monitor or full HD TV Screen will produce the same effect as unlike CRTs, modern flat screens are designed for a single res and will upscale the content to fit.

I'm sorry to say that I actually don't want this to suceed now.  Sport is likely to cost me $45 a month and some of it will be of dubious quality.  Plus no native way of watching on my 1080p screen without it getting upscaled and blocky.  Look at ESPN HD as that is a 720p stream... It might be smooth but my screen has to upscale and it loses the quality by having to expand the pixels.

Fear not,  this IS the case.  It says as much now in the FAQ section on the website.    I was advised of this personally when I asked them two weeks ago if there would be a way to record the "live only" games as I don't do 2AM games unless it's my team in the cup final, which A, hasn't happened for a while and b aint on PLP eanyway.

The new sample is OK, nothing more. Certainly doesn't compare to HD. Don't think it will matter. Not a chance they get the 13k people required to break even. As I predicted earlier, Sky comes in halfway through the season.

Either way, I'm not seeing much point in buying the premium pass when the only thing it offers is the VOD and Highlights. I love Liverpool too much to watch them on replay. Live or nothing. So can save myself some money that way. Highlights show gets posted on some Liverpool forums every week for free, so again, waste of money.

From their FAQ
Do I have to watch all the matches live or can I record them and watch at my leisure?

We've confirmed with the league that every single match can be watched once at any time - live or on-demand. On top of this we're offering 250 matches available on-demand for multiple views whenever you want. We'll try to ensure for starters they are all the 3am kick-off matches, with the remainder being as many of the midnight games as we can squeeze in.

I happened to have the old link still on my browser so I was able to compare the new sample feed with the old one side by side and can say that the new was much improved over the old. Increasing both to full screen on my 27" Dell monitor and hot keying between the 2 feeds, the new feed was again much improved. I was also glad to be able to see no glitches in the streaming indicating that I was able to download 2 feeds simultaneously without a problem. this augers well for the potential to watch 4 matches at once.

It's still short of what I had become used to with Sky HD but as an EPL fan I can say it's acceptable. Would love for the guys to consider pushing this out at 4.5Mbps. I would happily pay extra for an improved quality of feed. From my perspective I'm currently saving $500 per year having canceled my Sky sports subscription and the $10 per month HD thing. So switching to the $250 per annum subscription will save me $250 (should be more as I'm a Telecom customer and should be able to get the 15% discount through them tomorrow). I would be willing to part with some of that to up the feed to 4.5Mbps.

So how about Colosseum? Introduce an upgraded service for those that have the bandwidth capability and are able to afford it?

All 380 games can be viewed once AT ANY TIME so you wont have to be up all night - in addition to this 250 of the matches can be viewed multiple times at your leisure....

Dororke, how did you find the rapid panning on the new stream at full screen on your monitor? I've got a modest 21" here at work and it was terrible, I'm yet to see anything in the stream that would make it better when running in full screen. This is another reason why they need to make the preview the maximum avaible stream quality as that would allow peoople to test in full screen on their devices. I'll have a go later on my 51" plasma but I can bet that it will look pretty poor.
