I am with Telecom. And I believe there will be issues

Adaptive streaming if it is like MLBTV means it checks to see what speeds you are getting and if they go below what it needs for HD it changes it to SD, very annoying.

Akamai will host content delivery network - 3 streaming options up to 3mbit/s"

Not sure how I feel about this? That's bloody expensive. Especially if the streaming options aren't HD. Which 3mbit would indicate it isn't?

HD on BBC iPlayer is 3Mbit/s, similar on Hulu I think. That being said, most broadcast channels are beamed at 3-5 times that amount (albeit at 1080i rather than 720p, which is what I guess this will be), so I would say there will be a certian amount of macro blocking if your watching on a computer.

Sky chief executive John Fellett said the company's subscription prices would remain the same despite not being able to show the competition.

Have to wait and see for that I think. For now I think the price is just for EPL games although those games might be bundled into the more expensive platinum pack?

You can check out http://gamepass.nfl.com for free (no registration) to get an idea of what 3mbit quality streams look like.

As for me, i'm 50/50, since I have sky anyway i'd obviously prefer the games stayed on there but now I won't have to hunt for a stream whenever Liverpool games take the back seat to United/City/Chelsea games :)

Unfortunately we take back seat more often now. Though hopefully with our impending transfers, especially Mkhitaryan, Great signing that is, sees us pushing and getting more air time.

I never have a problem finding a Pool stream though. This just makes it a little bit easier, hopefully with minimal buffering (Though on UFB that shouldn't really be a problem)

The only time Sky will drop prices is when there's competition, they still have Soho, Rugby, League, NBA etc etc

Anyone do some rough number of what sort of data you'd use if streaming to your mobile on 4G at 3mbs?

So basically, streaming on a mobile network isn't going to happen as we get absolutely smashed with our data at present.

Unless of course Vodafone goes in with them for unmetered use

I can only hope the protocol is similar to netflix/hulu or they create open source plugins as quite frankly I'm disappointed that there is no mention of media centre users. Secondly, 3Mbps isvery poor, the 1080i stream from Sky is higher than that at around 8-10mbps!

https://twitter.com/publicaddress reporting that there is no apple tv app but they almost launched with one. but it is distinct possibility along with smart tv apps. they won't be doing exclusive deals with telcos
