Not having a bigger fan competition... you're a Man U fan and that is all that matters :-)

I guess we are in different situations. I've been watching Premier League, The Cup, and Champions League in HD Quality via Sky for a few years now. The drop in video quality is significant and really impacting the viewing pleasure for me. I know some will comment that it shouldn't matter to a true football fan but I watch the game in a very analytical manner. I like following strategies being used, player positioning etc. I used to be able to see when wingers swapped wings but now I can barely keep up with where the ball is!

Couldn't agree more. Like trying to tell the difference between Welbeck and Zaha on Sommet. Numbers 19 and 29, both up front, no chance!!!

Just slightly off target but kind of related. Does anyonw know if the rights for next year's world cup have been sorted or are we likely to see some potential for streaming there?

Sky has it. TV One is doing free to air coverage I believe.

I used to be able to call an offside as it happened. Now I have to go with the assistant referee's call! Shame I can't get some glasses to overcome my viewing problems!

gjen: Had access to isky and was poor quality !!!

Disagree. I watched the Rugby on iSky on Saturday and the quality was far superior to Liverpool v Stoke that followed immediately. I was even streaming both the Rugby and the League simultaneously for a while and the quality was still better.

gjen: This is better than some streams on the internet as they are not closed down halfway though a game... It can only get better. Pause, fastforward and rewind is great and the ability not to shed out for a SKYHD box too....

Your standards are obviously lower than mine. Comparisons with illegal streams and promissory notes for future improvements don't really cut it, IMO.

And your price comparison isn't really valid either. It's apples and oranges comparing MySky with PLP. MySky offers a large range of viewing, better quality and more convenience. PLP is cheaper, full stop!

Minecradft is better than isky !!!! Watching football and rugby on 40" is blocky at high speed. I've had better picture from a sopcast feed by an avid footy fan doing his own streaming service. I haven't had sky or TV for over 8 yrs just used the internet to aquire content to watch, mainly from usernet locations. I can now watch netflix $10nz and bbc iplayer $0 for most of my content.. and the video quality is great at SD standard.

I wasn't making any price comparission not sure were you read that. all I said was that you didn't need to shell out for a box and one that you don't even own !!

"Had Sky Sports in HD and happy with the PLP quality"

NB. Happy is a subjective term.... I would say that I am content to watch the current quality of feed, but would be even happier if they provided a better quality option.

If PLP offered 4500kbps from the get-go, this thread would only be 20 pages instead of 100...

Improve the stream size and the quality concern should go away....

Benoire: It's a shame we can't run a poll here to ask the following questions:

1) Had Sky Sports in HD and not happy with the PLP quality.
2) Had Sky Sports in HD and happy with the PLP quality.
3) Had Sky Sports in SD and happy with the PLP quality.
4) Had Sky Sports in SD and not happy with the PLP quality.
5) Had no legal way of viewing EPL in NZ and happy that no longer need Sky to watch EPL.

I would certainly be interested in how many #5s there are on Geekzone and I think the poll would provide interesting debate.

Had Sky HD and find the PLP viewable, but dissappointed with the quality

I'd disagree with this as even with a higher quality stream I feel we're worse off.  I now have Sky Sports HD for other sports and now have to pay another provider additional money to watch something that I got included the previous year in worser detail.  I'd still be annoyed even at 4.5mbps as the way to watching the stream is a stepbackwards; I.e. my entire viewing system is setup around a tv and remote.  I don't have any apple products (nor do I intend to!) and Google TV is still in its infancy and so I have to use a mouse and keyboard to control something from 15 foot away from my TV squinting to make out webpages where as before it was ff/rw/stop/play/pause from a remote pointed at the screen with a 10 foot ui.

fyscdaniel: I have hide the score on the apps but you can still tell which team won the game by different colour of the team name, only norwich which drawn with everton having same colour for both team.
Crap apps

You have got to be kidding me? That is totally unacceptable and would be a deal breaker for me. Muppets.

I've emailed them to tell them to fix it. Damn amateurs.

Got to agree with Benoire.

Option 1 here SKY with HD and not happy PLP quality. Also not happy as it would have cost me extra for a poorer system.

Someone here or on another article when replying to someone about streaming and using HDMI on your TV said get with the 21st century, but how can it be 21st century when it is worse quality and it takes longer to get from enetring your lounge to starting to view the game?

for those who want to join the game half way and would like to watch from start, just join the live game and pull the bar at the bottom to the left then you will be able to watch from start.
i would say the quality totally depending on your hardware too.
watches first half of Chelsea vs Aston villa at home this morning, amd the second half now in office, even the smaller monitor show worse than 55lcd tv at home.

Do that while covering the top half of the screen so you don't see the score! Shouldn't have to do it this way but it's a workaround until PLP can give an option to "view from beginning".

I can't log in using the app on HTC One with 4.2.2

Doesn't accept password/email combination. Fine on PC.

Agree with poster above about scores. With score hidden, the winning team name is in bold while defeated team is greyed out.
