You need to sideload them - there are plenty of instructions on how to sideload android apps on the googles.

You can find the apps themselves by searching geekzone

I plugged in an ancient wireless logitech keyboard/mouse and it worked fine.. I want to get the mele f10 pro at some point.

Heads up, root access is coming very soon! Root was obtained within a day of the device being released but the developer didn't want to release it until Amazon fixed some vulnerabilities. Amazon have an update coming out in the next week or so that fix these vuln's, and he has said he will release root later that day. Obviously which will allow a whole lot of different things (usb drive access being number 1! different launchers etc etc etc). However you have to be on the current firmware, if you update to the next update there wont be root access, so if this means anything to you, you have to block the update.

I setup a block in my router to the amazon update servers, im still on the original firmware (an update came out 2 weeks ago that i successfully blocked).

I'm going to sideload XBMC this weekend for a play to see where its at and setup plex for a comparison.

How did the comparison go ?

It took a while but

We have root!

Stickmount now works, which means you can access content off your usb drives ;)

Also your able to install APKs directly from your Fire TV without the sideloading nonsense. Grab a SQLite editor and make your way through Settings Storage/Settings/Global to change the value of "install_non_market_apps" from 0 to 1

Set up a unit for my father in law, with unotelly but for some reason whilst eventually I got Amazon Instant Video working, (it seems to buffer a fair bit on a 35/10 VDSL connection, Netflix says it's installed, but prices are unavailable? I had to install it on my FireTV but his shows like it's already installed, and the apps section keeps saying it's got nothing to show so I can't install many other apps. I doublechecked his DNS Setup twice and it must be working fine since Amazon was originally refusing to play video and now it is.

If you schedule it to watch later and then choose it from your watch later items, it works fine ?

I'll take a look at it later and post back.

We use Netflix mainly, but we were initially using the 30 day free amazon trial.

Okay found a fix for the above problem i have just had see below

From the home screen go to settings. Select applications go to the amazon video app clear data 2-3 times (yes 2-3 times) this insures the data clears for some reason one time is not enough. After that unplug the device for about 10 seconds them plug it back in and try to load an amazon video. This fixes Netflix as well as amazon video. Apparently the Amazon application controls video rights and effects Netflix so clearing the data for amazon is the fix.

this has worked for me , hope if anyone else has this problem it will help them as well

I thought that was an issue on the initial firmware version only and it had been addressed in later versions. Glad you are all sorted out now (c8

I only ever have this message if I'm playing something and turn off the TV. When I turn it on the message is there - probably it loses HDMI sync.

Interesting your post about the clear cache fix...
