I'd be pretty surprised. Hardware wise, hard to beat and software wise they are barely scratching the surface.

I am with Orcon (global mode) and can watch NetFlix on my PC.
On my FireTV I can log into NetFlix OK but anything I try to play gives the message "This title is not available in your current region"
Can anyone suggest the steps to take to get NetFlix working on my FireTV?

I don't know the Orcon setup, but I am presuming that the global mode is something you would need to switch on by manually entering the Global DNS settings on the devices you are wanting to use it.

EDIT: You have set it up on your router, right?

I do not think that is the problem as the Orcon Global mode just works without changing any settings. Each device gets the correct DNS address via DHCP.
I can log in OK with FireTV.

Sounds good. I would have gone with Orcon, but for their unjustified call charges (I'm Auckland Rural). I also need a proper phone line.

Is the Global Mode any slower than the standard mode?

Can anyone please help me?
As above, using Orcon's Global Mode my windows PCs use Netflix fine.
On my Fire TV I can log into NetFlix fine and see my favourites etc. but cannot play anything saying "not available in your region".
The Fire TV was bought with my wife's Amazon account (which shows USA as the country).

Presumably your router is picking up the DNS settings from Orcon.
If so is the Amazon Fire TV picking up the DNS settings from the Router.

You could try setting the Fire TVs DNS server settings to 121.98.0.1 and 121.98.0.2 which appear to be the Orcon DNS server IP addresses.

I assume that the Orcon Global mode points to the Netflix US site and not the UK or somewhere else?
So Fire TV thinks its in the USA (amazon device settings) and the DNS global mode matches that.

The Windows PC is definitely picking up the correct DNS addresses from the router so maybe I should check the Fire TV as well. (I am not at home to check now, is it easy enough or should I enter the addresses manually?)

I think that must be right as the PC works fine.

I originally had my fire TV running over wifi and it just seemed to pick up the details via the router.
I then changed it to a cable connection and it seemed to need the DNS servers entering (I use unotelly).

I actually think that DNS is unlikely to be the problem as I can log into NetFlix fine (but I will try manually entering them tonight).

I am having issues accessing apps like youtube and plex. I get a message saying my account has ot been charged. I have set the device settings to US, I have an Nz credit card with nz billing address entered for the payment method. I didnt opt for the Amazon prime. Not sure how to charge the account.

I had to add some apps from the website, others would install from the firetv.

I havent tried it again over a VPN rather than unotelly to see if that is the problem or not.
