The default one that it gives you when you search youtube. Looks just like several other devices ones so not thinking it's specific to the fire tv. It's the one that only shows your last lot of subscriptions not all of them.

richms: Never buy something on the promise of software updates solving things. For now I would either get the proper fire tv or wait till they actually solve it. For $19 each it's tolerable but at $40 without the microphone remote it's not a good deal at the moment.

Well for most companies I'd agree, but Amazon are big on underpromise and over deliver. I can't think of another company I'd trust more.

Seconds for buying the firetv, one of the best things of this year gadgetwise for me, second coolest to my Echo.

Anyone have an issue with the vevo app not transporting playlists? I add them via browser on my pc but the app on the firetv is showing blank tab for playlist.

Would someone be prepared to test that please?

Scotty1986: I'm very new to streaming. I have MyRepublic 100/50mbps and have signed up girl netflix. Works great on my Xb1 and ps4, but not on Xbox 360 or Samsung smart TV. I think the Samsung App is bugged according to some Google searches but the xbox 360 is puzzling. Used a USA account to download the app and using auto settings. Not luck.

Anyway, l need a device for the lounge that will stream netflix and looks like Amazon Fire could be for me. Has anybody tried this with MyRepublic? Also, does anyone know if there is one I could buy in Wellington?

This is off topic but should help Scotty1986. If you want to get Netflix working on your Samsung TV you could try the following:

I have a Samsung 2013 F series Smart TV, UA50F6700AM. This model was intended for Australia, New Zealand and Singapore. I managed to get the Netflix app to work when my smart hub country was set to UK or USA by doing the following:

1. Set Smart Hub to a country where Netflix is not available (like New Zealand or Australia). This will delete your existing Netflix app when the Smart Hub loads.

2. Now set the Smart Hub to country where the Samsung App Store still has an old version of the Netflix app. Now, this used to be the United Kingdom, but this no longer works as the Netflix app in the UK has updated to version 4.00997, which no longer works with my TV. However, the Mexico Samsung App Store still uses an older version of the Netflix app, version 3.229 and this does work with my TV. Once the apps from Mexico have loaded, go to "get more apps", select "options" and set "Auto update" to "Off".

3. Now set the Smart Hub country to UK or USA. This will delete all apps that Mexico and UK/USA don't have in common, but Netflix will be retained and will not be updated. I still get the sever error the first time I try to load Netflix, but the second time I load Netflix it usually works completely normally.

If you try to update Netflix Version 3.229 from the USA Samsung App Store, this will update Netflix to version 4.00511, and Netflix will no longer work. So, keep the auto update in Smart Hub Options set to "Off".

Hope this helps.

I agree that the new software is a major step in the right direction. That free Pluto TV station is pretty good too :o

Anyone else having problems with the Netflix app not showing coverart or icon pictures?

I am losing the pictures from the main Netflix screen where you can select your profile, exit the app etc. Also when browsing a lot of the shows don't have coverart, I get the text descriptions but nothing else.

Box is on the latest firmware, I have factory reset it and uninstalled app and reinstalled. Fixes it for a bit then it comes back again.

SHows and movies play perfectly, it's just the coverart.

I have two units, one does it and one doesn't.

Cheers
Matt.

Matt, I live rurally with a <2Mb/s download speed. Your service sounds about as good as it ever gets, from my perspective (c8

Once it's actually playing, programmes play without interruption.

Sounds like we are both grateful for small mercies (c8

Mattmannz and cdrnet: who's your ISP and what DNS unblocking service are you using? I have the same issue, but I also had it on a Roku 3. I'm with Vodafone on UFB and the images and thumbnails not displaying is related to Vodafone's transparent proxy not playing nicely with DNS unblockers.
