jonathan18:
freitasm: It seems an update is coming out that enables Bluetooth headphones, external USB storage and login to WiFi portals (if you take your box to a hotel for example)...

Any idea as to when this is coming?

This would make the device a brilliant option for so many more people, given it will allow programs like Kodi to access local content. Most people don't have NASs, and don't have the technical nouse to block the firmware update to allow such access - I'm relatively tech-savy but I failed to stop mine updating! Should it come to pass I'd certainly recommend the product to others over more limited products like the current ATV.

This site has lots of info about the AFTV.
http://www.aftvnews.com/

Their article suggests its already started rolling out to some users - you probably just have to wait a wee while.

freitasm: I use an Amazon account with US region set. Fire TV is not "available" in New Zealand so I guess they wouldn't have the app.

Change region in your Amazon account, sync the Fire TV/Stick and try again.

Tried that but didn't work, still says "pricing unavailable". I don't use a VPN or anything though so maybe it's just a geo lock thing, just kinda figured that now that Netflix is down here it'd unlock but I guess not. Not the end of the world :)

You have to factory reset your device once you have changed your region. Should then work, did for me anyway.

Try the reset as suggested. You will find the Netflix app is worth it.

Did it show any message about the update being applied or did you have to look for the changes?

I looked in the System About section and saw it was installed today. No messages show up when updates occur.

One of my sticks is on 54.1.0.3 and the other on 54.1.1.0.

edit:

System update on the old one is downloading a new one. Will check the fire tv boxes soon as they are on different tv's to the ones on the tvs by my computer.

Has anyone else been getting a frame of pixelation occasionally out of youtube on it? Not sure if its since the new youtube app or anything but its getting annoying.

Any of you using Plex on the stick? Have found some real pausing/stuttering issues over wifi and searching the plex forums seems pretty common :/

I use Plex via AFTV (Not stick) and it's pretty much flawless. I use it at least 45 minutes every day.

I am using Plex on AFTV as Networkn, only to play some content carried over from our HTPC (photos, music and a few videos). It works pretty well - on ethernet. I do not use WiFi for anything that means "streaming".
