Sounds like a top plan!

richms: Try going to amazons website and buying it there instead of adding it on the device.

I tried that. It says Netflix is incompatible with my device, how can that be?

Did you try both your US and UK accounts ? (I got my Fire TV from the UK but can only download stuff from the US, guess its a settings thing somewhere)

Amazon-US says device incompatible, Amazon-UK says not eligible due to geographical restrictions.
I'm sure there must be some sort of work-around, and there is probably some wee setting I haven't got right but I've been trying most of the afternoon and I think my brain has officially had a melt down.

At some point I logged into the US account, went to 'manage your content and devices', selected 'settings' tab, and under country settings changed it to UK (though maybe you should set it to US).

Also tried editing my payment method to try some (UK / US) Youshop addresses for my credit card instead of my actual NZ delivery address.

Don't actually know what I'm doing but at some point fiddling with those settings I was allowed to download Netflix, iPlayer from the US Amazon.

I was wondering about that. In Amazon-US my device country is listed as NZ.
In Amazon-UK I have a UK address I think, my sisters address, but the FireTV is registered to my Amazon-US account.

That could be the problem then.

I have found amazon support to be totally useless at even understanding the problem with things like this and sorting it out when I have asked in the past.

But isn't that what Geekzone is for??

Your device is set to NZ? You need to reset it to US. Make sure your account has a credit card with a US address - even YouShop and go through the hoops. Unless you change that you aren't going to install that Netflix.

Also I think that buying something with the new billing info was one of the steps I was told to do to get it working.

I've put in a Youshop US address and the device country now says US.
Its still not happy though.
How do you do the American credit card bit?

You can simply change your credit card address to the youshop address. Alternatively use Paypal, 'cos it's easier.

Once you set it up, you can then change your address back to NZ.

But if you start Netflix with a Kiwi account, changing it seems to be impossible.

Good luck.

So it seems I still have a chance to stuff it up completely. :(

I had a nightmare with changing regions. It always seemed to revert back to NZ, even with the unotelly/smartdns thing going on. I then realise that if you logon with a new email address, you get to choose your region again.

Now that there is a Netflix NZ, I can now switch between NZ & USA simply by enabling/disabling the global dns thingy.

Good luck wink

Actually, I already have a Netflix account, an NZ one and I am using that with Unotelly.
I just cant seem to enable the Netflix app on the FireTV.

That could be your problem. You don't need Unotelly to access Netflix NZ and I suspect that your problem is that your Fire TV box will not recognise Netflix NZ? Have you tried signing in with a free 30 day trial to Netflix US? Once you are up and running, you could then login with your NZ account settings?

It just worked at our end

Does anyone have Netflix NZ on their Fire TV Box?

A call to their free support line might provide the easiest solution.

Using UnoTelly with NZ Netflix gives you the ability to access other Netflix regions. You don't need a trial US Netflix account.
