Amazon Fire TV using Geekzone aff link.
You have things like Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video and other services. No NZ services on these boxes.

The Fire TV is also great with Emby, Plex and Kodi (You have to sideload Kodi but that is pretty easy to do.)
Talking of FreTV, was just going to use Emby on it and I can't see that row of apps it has at / near the top of the home screen anywhere. Any ideas where its gone ?
(Apps are still there when I hold the Home key down and go to apps that way, but still...)
Also Emby has just disappeared entirely, maybe something to do with it being the beta...

nurcopolics: Having local content definitively prove that Amazon will be entering the New Zealand market and therefore the fire TV will be for sale. If you read up Amazon is creating a movie with the All Blacks in it. Does this mean that they may outbid Sky TV for rugby sport?

Probably not as Sky still have a deal with the NZRU for a while still.
I think 2018 is the final year sky has for the rights then it's open for bidding again.
nurcopolics: I honestly think they will buy sports as bait for unlimited prime delivery, music and video with $20 month on top for sports. With local shops searchable on echo this proves a move into NZ by December...
It doesn't "prove" anything. It seems likely but they won't be in the New Zealand market with Prime delivery by December.
The current estimate for the Australian operation is late 2018. For them to setup in NZ a year before that is almost impossible.
Amazon have done documentaries on sports teams when they don't own the rights for the actual games. The All Blacks are an international brand which will create interest in many markets, not just NZ.

Nope, they renewed for another 5 years starting in 2016

To nitpick, you can do iPlayer, ITV, All4 using DNS, not VPN. Or Kodi and/or Plex and/or Emby for your own media. Just guessing, but think you can put IPTV on Kodi, so you can watch Live TV1,2,3 but not, I think, OnDemand.
