Telecom VDSL
US Netflix via StrongVPN - works fine
US Netflix via GetFlix - any video buffers to 50% then fail

Hi Guys,

Unblock-Us here - been eagerly following this thread over the last few days, and I want to share with you where we are.

We're working with a few of you in NZ to find out what the source of the issue is and this is still ongoing. If you'd like to help (and have a mac) drop me a private message on here and we'll hook up asap and get the ball rolling. We're already working with a number of you - but the more the merrier.

We're also working on an alternative solution - to get you guys back up and running asap. Will give you details about this as soon as I have it.

(Btw - not currently verified - but proof has been provided to the admins - we are who we say we are :) )

Thanks for the update.

Is it looking promising for an alternative or are we still trying to figure out where to start?

Happy if you contact me I'm "pl at telecom.co.nz" as I have seen a number of our customers impacted by this. It wouldn't ever be officially supported or sanction by Telecom but I do have a number of different transports (ADSL, VDSL, FIBRE) available to me in both a production and non production sense plus have many contacts within the organisation.

But to repeat for everyone else in case there is confusion. Telecom would never officially support a geoblocking avoidance or vpn service such as yourself or anyone else. All traffic on Telecom's network is treated equally in a best efforts basis. Telecom has never throttled specific types of traffic unless a customer has chosen to be on a plan that may include traffic management.

I'm reaching out to you (and others if needs be) as an individual who happens to work for Telecom.

Hey guys,

So we've collected all the ISPs you guys have reported. Let us know if you have any contradicting data.

Based on reports, Snap doesn't seem to be affected at all. Please let us know if you are using Snap and are experiencing this issue, or any other ISP for that matter.

If you have any more data to add in, please include the package you have with the ISP in your post. For example a user with Telecom ADSL2 reports that everything is working while another with Telecom ADSL with the 150gb package is not working.

To the ISP's that are in this thread, please take this as a reference to see if there is anything on your end that could be done (i.e clear caches, reboot servers, etc). We understand you can't "officially" support us or even help fix this issue, and it might not even be on your end, but it's bad for business when your customers have an alternative option that works for their needs.

ISPs and Packages that work:

  • Bigpipe ISP
  • FX
  • Orcon
  • Slingshot ADSL
  • Snap UFB
  • Snap VDSL
  • Telecom ADSL2
  • Xnet / WxC

ISPs and Packages that don't work:

  • Slingshot Global
  • Slingshot VDSL
  • Telecom ADSL - 150gb
  • Telecom UFB - 500gb
  • Telecom VDSL
  • Vodafone (TCL Cable )
  • Vodafone / Telstra

This isn't a conclusive list, nor is it complete, but this is our finding so far that we're hoping would help the ISPs while we continue to look into this from our end.

P.S Netflix still works via UK Dynamo Option for those that joined in late, and you can email us at support@unotelly.com for 30-day free VPN Trial if you really want US Netflix for now.

Also check out http://www.moreflicks.com/ if you're looking for something in particular as other Netflix region we support might have it.

Thanks guys,
Kobi

On Vodafone Naked DSL here and it's a no go, using a VPN has resolved it for me. But now I have to share that VPN connection with the LAN/Roku :-/

Have a spare router here so might have to use DD-WRT and try that :-/

Playmo was working fine until I posted it here LOL

I am on Slingshot ADSL (with Global mode off for now). Netflix works with Hola sort of on and off. To get a certain video working via Hola, I have to refresh the page couple of times or restart the browser.

Thinking of giving Getflix a go. Any users over here getting the error when using Netflix via Getflix?

FYI - Xtra is the old name for Telecom broadband, so if Telecom isn't working, then neither is Xtra.  They are the same ISP.

I believe this should be reading Telecom ADSL2 - which I am on, and I have the issue present.

I'm using Slingshot big broadband 40GB package which i'm pretty sure is ADSL and Unblock US. Netflicks US and Canada not working but when changed to UK it does work. I'm using netflix on my windows 8 laptop and my Xbox one.
