Thanks for that Predated. I had hoped VF would get this sorted on ADSL.

Is anyone in Central Otago using VDSL and streaming US Netflix?

Cheers

Anyone had issues with Netflix via xbox360 in recent days?

Have snap 30/10 UFB and no issues with playing Netflix via Sony DVD player or on ipad, but xbox in the living room is buffering every few mins.

Nothing else running, pc off, kids tablets etc off. 2nd night in a row for me. It is over wifi, but that hasn't been a problem in the past.

Baffling.

Hey guys I'm currently running netflix via ATV with global mode on a slingshot connection. With an US iTunes account I get access to all US netflix. Decided to have a play around and created a Brazil/canada/uk iTunes account but netflix still defaults to the US version when I log in with my other iTunes accounts. Any idea how global mode works/any tips would be greatly appreciated. Unblockus/unotelly works well for switching regions but was looking for a way to do this for free :)

Hey Skot I'm not aware of any free service that let s you change the netflix region. I'm with slingshot too but prefer using unotelly rather than global mode because it opens more content.

You don't control this via your iTunes account. Does Slingshot provide a way to switch NetFlix regions? I use UnoTelly, and this is controlled via their website. If Slingshot supports this, I'd expect something similar.

Slingshot doesn'y give the ability to change netflix region and I doubt they would offer it since **struggling not to laugh*** technically global mode is supposed to be available so that foreign visitors could stay at someones house and still access the content that they signed up for in their home country. By that reasoning they wouldn;t allow region changes to netflix because the "foreign visitor" would have signe dup for a subscription in there own country and have access to that regions netflix.

Even as a slingshot customer I still prefer paying $5 p/m for Unotelly rather than global mode, changing netflix region is a major reason why.

Your argument is a little incorrect there.

If Global mode is there so foreign visitors can access their home countries content, Slingshot are then assuming that all foreign visitors that want to do this are from the USA.

If you cannot change the region, then Global mode is really only US mode.

Netflix shows you content based on the country you are accessing it from, not the country you signed up to it in. UnoTelly, UnblockUS and others allow you to change the country Netflix sees you as connecting from.

Wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong then :) and certainly won't be the last. Either way I can't see slingshot bringing in the ability to change your netflix region, if they did try and bring that in you could bet your last $ that Sky would be getting their legal team to have another look at it

Does anyone use a Roku3 with SlingShot Global Mode?

Netflix works fine from a PC, sometimes fine on my Roku3 but other times no shows work at all... I get the generic "We're having trouble playing this title right now."

I've heard Netflix-on-Roku sometimes ignores the Roku DNS and uses the Google DNS services, you may need to make your router redirect queries to Google's DNS service to Slingshot's DNS servers.

Edit: Also, this kinda feels like a new topic.  Not really related to the now resolved streaming problems after Netflix changed how they handled most streams and caught various ISP's proxy farms off guard.

Has anyone managed to get Netflix working on Apple TV with Orcon's Global Mode? Any tips?

Netflix works well on my mac. On the Apple TV I changed to the US iTunes Store, and I get the Netflix app appearing on the home screen, so that part is good. But the issue is that when I go into netflix on ATV and login using my netflix account it just sits there on 'Accessing Netflix' forever. It never loads the content. I know the netflix account is ok because:

1. I use it on my mac on the same home wifi

2. If I use the wrong netflix password on the apple tv it will come back straight away saying the password is wrong. But with the correct user/password it just loads forever.

Weirdly, on the first Netflix screen you can sign up for a free trial. I tried that with a new email address, and after supplying a new email & password I got straight in to Netflix. But when I exited and went in again to login with the same new details I got the endless 'Accessing Netflix' message.

...I've tried restarting the ATV and a factory reset. I've tried switching back to the NZ iTunes store then switching back to the US. I also just for fun tried using a non-dhcp ip and google's dns servers on the ATV. I've set my netflix to low quality.

Tips appreciated!
