Do they still require you to call their overseas call centre at odd hours to cancel your sub after the free trial expires?

Why would you though? After the 6 weeks it's $12.99 a month and then for premium content it's $2.99 an episode for TV and $6.99 for movies. 
If they offered a fixed monthly price of say $15 then they would capture more of the market. Right now they are doing themselves no favours and they wonder why people use Netflix and other services.

to be fair, a lot of the 'premium' stuff is not available on Netflix at all.
In many cases it is movies that have only just come out on DVD, and therefore Netflix won't have for 6-12 months on it's subscription service
(there is also a lot of stuff that IS available on Netflix or lightbox though, which doesn't make sense to purchase individually - e.g. OITNB)
