DickDastardly: Just thought I'd give an update as to my latest Global video supplier.

My trial with Unblock-US came to an end, so i next moved onto a Getflix trial.

My worries for moving seem to be unfounded as (in my 10 minutes of testing between regions) I can smoothly change worldwide locations and ive caught up on the end of season 3 of Hawaii 5-0 and season 3 of Blue Bloods, both on US Netflix and both in glorious HD loveliness!

More playing tomorrow but i think i may have found the service for me....

Were you not getting HD before?

I was getting HD, but this comment was a wee dig at standard NZ TV output (especially focussed at Sky) where pretty much EVERYTHING on Netflix is HD, sadly the same cant be said for Sky NZ....With the various national offerings Sky would be very hard pressed to match Netflix for content....I'm not sure stopping ISP's Global Mode has stopped the flood of people leaving Sky....

I don't want no sugar in it - thank you very much

DickDastardly: Regardless of which service i use (Unblock-Us/Getflix etc) my Apple TV keeps "loosing" my library under computers from the main screen.

Its really annoying and a problem thats only started since i started playing with Netflix.

The result in all my albums, photo's, movies and TV shows that i have in my iTunes library become lost, its like it looses the library and i have to reboot the Apple TV and its back again...

Anyone else have this problem??

No.... I don't do any home sharing though.  I use airplay to get content from other devices.

If you do a google search it seems home sharing issues are pretty wide spread.  Have a look at this: https://support.apple.com/en-au/HT203311

What happens if you put the same DNS into your computer?

Thanks for the Link.

Now the same DNS Address is on my Mac Mini and also my Apple TV - Ive made that tweak deliberately and tried to see if that increases the stability and I THINK it has made an improvement.

Yesterday there was much switching between Netflix and my library and not one reboot was needed.....It might have just been when the two DNS's were different...I'll keep playing though - I like a challenge!

They still have a monopoly on most sports unfortunately.

I don't understand why the DNS addresses would have to be the same for Apple Home Sharing to work.
I would have thought that both devices being served by the same router would be enough.... but if it helps then I guess it does.... one more reason not to use home sharing IMO.

If you are going to go down that route you could always set the DNS address in your router instead of each device.  This would mean that everything on your network will go through that DNS.  That shouldn't be too much of an overhead though as long as you are using the NZ based servers... and you are changing most devices by the sound of it anyway.
